In which Beomgyu turns out to be Taehyun's guardian angel.
───── ? ???????? ? ─────
Upon getting assigned his next human to look after, Beomgyu goes to the city of Seoul to find him, only to discover that he is none another than the reincar...
As soon as he said that, a pair of eye's prowled out of the darkness, making its way into the light. Beomgyu glared at him with great fury, the anger he felt for the latter simply too plethoric to be explained.
"You did this," the angel seethed, looking dead at the devil in the eye.
"I was only doing as I was tasked to. You, on the other hand, failed your duty as a guardian angel by falling in love with the human you swore to protect," Hueningkai replied, who looked contrastingly calmer than him.
Beomgyu said nothing as she gripped her body harder, holding it close to his chest.
"I hope you don't take this to heart," said the devil, "I was only carrying out my task of making sure she died of the death she was supposed to. You, too, protected her until the day of her registered death came, meaning we both succeeded."
For success to wash away his grief is simply impossible. The sound of him "succeeding" in his assignment made Beomgyu feel sick to the stomach. Slowly rising to his feet, Beomgyu looked at Hueningkai, his face changing.
"I may have failed to protect her in this life, but believe me when I say I won't fail again in her next one," he said.
"And what makes you certain that you'll see her again? Let alone in the same body?" Hueningkai asked.
Beomgyu looked at him surely in the eye, already knowing the answer.
"Because of fate."

The season of mists, and mellow fruitfulness, Fall, has just arrived in the city of Seoul. Leaves began to turn into the warm shades of orange and brown with the air growing colder.
Beomgyu had decided to settle in a cafe downtown this particular morning as he stared out of the window, which was reflecting the simple, mundane activities of human life: people clutching onto their briefcases walking to their offices; children waiting by the bus stop while entertaining themselves by picking up the fallen leaves; cars of all types occupying the road.
It seemed so systematic, so dreary, yet so simple at the same time.
He found himself lost in his thoughts for a few moments before quickly bringing himself back to reality. It has been 2 days since he had arrived in Seoul, and still, no progress has been made in finding this Kang Taehyun person.
Any attempt to find the young man on social media and the internet only failed as Beomgyu felt stuck on his task.
His luck has never been this bad, really; most of the time, he is almost always able to find the person he was assigned to upon arriving at the city they live in. Yet here he was: two days in and still no Kang Taehyun.
He was currently staying at a fully-furnished studio apartment, renting it with the limited money he had brought with him before coming down to Earth.
Right, other than finding this mysterious person, the chances of him surviving here looked hopeless. Beomgyu laid his head against the cold glass window, somehow hoping that the coolness might help him think better.
The sound of the bells jingling by the cafe door broke him from his sulking thoughts. Beomgyu felt his eyes widen like saucers as soon as he saw who it was.
Sol promptly took a seat by the empty chair at Beomgyu's table as the angel couldn't feel anymore thankful at the sight of his archangel appearing when all hope seemed lost—it quickly died down as soon as Beomgyu realised the latter's arrival could also be because of a lecture wanting to be delivered.
Beomgyu anticipated the latter. "What are you doing here?" He asked Sol.
"You seemed lost. You always look lost in the first step of your missions," the older sighed, shaking his head dismissively.
"Please, give me some time. Seoul is HUGE, and you expect me to find this boy in a day?" Beomgyu scoffed.
Sol raised an eyebrow but said nothing as he brought a folded flyer from his beige blazer.
"What's this?" Beomgyu asked, giving it a read, his eyes instantly falling upon the words:
LOOKING FOR A PERSONAL BODYGUARD For more info, contact xxx-xxx-xxx
Beomgyu looked up, his mouth hanging agape. "Is this my new job? What about finding Taehyun? Shouldn't that be my priority? Oh, and another thing, has Hueningkai already found the person yet?" He asked all at once, suddenly worry surging through his mind.
"My dear boy, instead of worrying about other's affairs and focus on finding this boy first," Sol chastised, waving a hand. "And, yes, that is a job you will be applying for. Can't possibly survive here without earning, can you?"
Sighing, Beomgyu sat back in his chair, rereading the information on the flyer. "And the interview is in...?"
"Two hours. Two hours for you to get ready."
"TWO HOURS?" Beomgyu repeated in disbelief. "I don't have the slightest clue on how to become a bodyguard—"
"Of course you do. You're a guardian angel."
"Yeah, sure, let me just whip out my wings in public and serve my role as a bodyguard," Beomgyu joked sarcastically.
Sol didn't laugh. Beomgyu stopped talking.
"Should I be worried?"
"Oh, you don't need to since I have someone here to help you with this task," Sol smiled.
Just as he said so, another person entered the cafe. Any remaining doubts melted away as soon as Beomgyu recognised who it was as the two old friends shared a smile.
