In which Beomgyu turns out to be Taehyun's guardian angel.

Upon getting assigned his next human to look after, Beomgyu goes to the city of Seoul to find him, only to discover that he is none another than the reincar...
Princess Nari held her hand up. "I'd like to hear what he has to say, father," she said so firmly that it made her own father sit back down.
Beomgyu nodded his head, expressing his thanks towards her gesture.
"I apologise, your highness. I'd rather I tell you the truth now than have the face betray your trust later," the man continued, looking up to see the princess' eyes twinkling back at his.

Beomgyu stared at the man in front of him in horror, not knowing what to feel. Now that he was clearly in front of him, there's no doubt that it was Nari in front of him. Only. . . reincarnated as a male.
Taehyun caught the latter staring as Beomgyu quickly diverted his gaze from him. He knew Hueningkai was probably just as baffled at the coincidence this was. Only difference is that he would be laughing at the irony of the moment while Beomgyu was contemplating his life choices.
Ms Seo left the room as the door behind the four shut with a firm click.
Walking towards the two, Taehyun heaved a heavy sigh. "I assume you two understand the role you applied for, right? Until this matter at hand is solved, I will be requiring your assistance to assure my safety. I can't guarantee how long or how short it will take, but I'm just letting you know this in advance. If you think such a job without a fixed working period given, then you are free to leave this room."
Neither of them budged. Taehyun raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised by their determination.
"I trust Mr Yoon, who has already looked through both of your proposals, and I don't want to take any more of your time asking a series of questions that will only end up boring the two of you. I hope whatever you have written in your resume is true since I'm a man who puts honesty above anything else."
"I shall only ask this question which I want the two of you to answer genuinely," Taehyun continued, placing his hands in his pockets as he studied the two's expression, like he was trying to figure out just what they were thinking of at the moment.
"A gun is pointed at me. You are there as well. Would you take the bullet for me as my bodyguard?"
The question irked something in Beomgyu as he looked up, remembering the emperor once asking him something similar.
And he remembered his answer crystal-clear.
Nari chose him for his honesty. If he were to give that exact same answer, it would also prove if Taehyun really was Nari in his past life. Beomgyu looked at Taehyun in the eye, the answer firm in his head.
"Yes," Hueningkai started. "You chose me as your bodyguard, and I will not betray your trust in me to protect you," he said.
Taehyun nodded his head before turning to Beomgyu.
"No," the angel replied flatly. I am your bodyguard, not the person to save your life. To save you is a choice, not an obligation. Humans in this world are selfish. Well, so am I. When put in such a position, it is only natural to save yourself first. So, if you would like my honest answer, sir, that would be a no."
Mr Yoon, who was behind Taehyun, looked beyond mystified by his directness. Hueningkai, too, raised an eyebrow, as if he was implying that Beomgyu here had dug his own grave.
But he knew he didn't. From the expression on Taehyun's, he knew he didn't.
"I like honest people," he said before taking a step forward. Taehyun stood in between the two of them as he extended a hand―
To Beomgyu.
"Welcome on board," he smiled as Beomgyu returned the handshake. Bowing down, Hueningkai gave a wave to the trio before leaving the room.
"Work starts tomorrow. Come to the office by 9 am, and I shall be seeing you tomorrow, Mr Choi Beomgyu," Taehyun said.
The sweet feeling of victory rushed through his mind as Beomgyu beamed back before leaving the room.

Shutting the door behind him, it was then when the remembrance of the past and his assignment came crashing on him, like cold, harsh reality.
He rushed to the bathroom as Beomgyu entered one of the stalls, his heartbeat racing.
Lifting his shirt slowly, he didn't know if he was mentally prepared to see it yet, not wanting to face reality so soon.
His heart dropped in horror at the sight of the silver heart across his chest gleaming brightly.
Angels and devils alike had silver hearts stitched across their chest. After embarking on their journey to find their human soul, to protect or bring misfortune to, the silver of their heart will glow, signifying that they have completed the first step of their mission.
Beomgyu sat there, feeling the urge to scream.
This is it.
Taehyun, his boss, is the person he was assigned to.
Taehyun, who also happened to be the reincarnation of his dead lover.
Sighing, Beomgyu got up as he promptly exited the bathroom only to find Hueningkai waiting outside, the outline of his own silver heart faintly glowing through his white shirt.
