"And I told you how my... parents... weren't actually my parents? They'd made that clear enough."

"What's this got to do with anything?" He asked confused.

"The people I stayed with. They were my real family. And that family was Rick. And his parents."

"Are... are you serious...?"

I started laughing again but quieter, "Yeah... Rick's my brother...."

He started laughing too, "Oh god."

"I know."

"So what your saying is, I chose, to tell you're brother about us." He asked

I started laughing again, "Guess so dar-bear."

"Yeah alright, sunshine." He said smiling as I put my head on his shoulder.

After a few moments, Rick waved me over. I gave Daryl a soft look and squeezed his hand before going to Rick.

"Hey."

"Hey... I want to tell Lori. And Carl. If that's okay with you?" He asked me.

"Yeah yeah no that's okay."

"I mean. You are an aunt, and you have a sister-in-law." He said smiling.

"Oh god. I guess I am."

Rick lead me into the RV where Lori and Carl were talking.

"Hey.." Rick started warily.

"Hi, dad."

"Hey, honey."

I just waved. This is so weird.

"I have something I wanna tell you both," Rick said smiling.

"Ok!" Carl said quickly.

"Ok...?" Lori said much more confused.

"Y/n is....." He trailed off.

"I'm Rick's...... sister...." I said stepping out from behind him.

"What?" Lori asked wide-eyed.

"Cool!" Carl said clearly unbothered. Lori just kept looking at me then rick going back and forth.

"Lori I know this is a lot...."

"No she's not she can't be."

"Lori, remember that little girl I told you stayed with me? When I was six?"

She nodded still staring at me.

"That was me." I said quietly.

"No, no, no. You can't really know that!" She exclaimed, it drew Carl's attention, and I waved him over.

"Hey let's give your mom and dad a chance to talk okay?"

"Okay." He responded with a smile as I lead him out of the RV I could tell Lori was seething at this point.

"So does that mean you're my aunt?" He asked as we walked around our camp. In sight of everyone of course.

"Well yeah, I guess. But that doesn't change anything for you. I mean I don't have to be involved you hardly know me." I responded.

"No, I think it'll be cool. Maybe you'll teach me about walkers." He responded looking at me with hopefully eyes.

"You know maybe I can. But you'll never go near one. I wanna teach you not get my head ripped off by your mom." I said and he laughed. He laughed like a little kid. A normal kid who wasn't here at the end of the world it was nice.

Someone came up behind me and I flinched and pulled Carl behind me. Then I realized it was just Daryl and I relaxed.

"You ok?" He asked.

"Yeah. Hey Carl, you know Daryl right?" I asked once he came back out from behind me.

He nodded.

"Well Daryl has been my friend since I was a little older than you are. He's my best friend."

He smiled, "But why did you jump away from him scared?" He asked.

I knelt down to his level and Daryl put a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Well... when I was little my parents were not as cool as yours are," I paused and he chuckled, "They were not very nice. Daryl, he protected me from them. I jumped away because I just get a little nervous still. That's all." I smiled sadly.

"Oh," He paused and ran over to Daryl to give him a hug. Daryl got very confused and looked at me like an alien was hugging him and I just smiled when he hugged the kid back. "So does that mean you're my uncle?" He asked innocently. I watched Daryl's face turn bright red even in the dark.

"Not quite buddy." I laughed.

"Okay!" He responded just as innocently as he asked the question.

"Come on. Let's get you back to your parents." I said after a moment before leading him back to the RV Daryl following close behind. After Carl went back into the RV Daryl and I went to the further end of it to sit back down.

"You okay Daryl?" I asked noticing he was more silent than usual.

"Hmm." He hummed in response unconvincingly.

"Come on." I urged softly.

"The kid asked if I was his uncle." He responded simply.

"Oh come on Daryl he's a-"

"You didn't say I was." He cut me off with a sad look on his face.

"Daryl... You can be his uncle. I mean to be fair I didn't know I was an aunt until all of half an hour ago."

"You'd let him call me his uncle?" I didn't understand why Daryl got that stupid happy smile on his face, but I liked that it was there.

"Well yeah." I responded. He just smiled at me and kissed me softly. "What's that for?" I asked.

"I get to call you my girl, and I get a nephew." He said with that happy smile on his face.

I felt the butterflies in my stomach again but, I liked that they were there reminding me just how I felt about Daryl, "Whatever." I said still blushing.
