"I wasn't going to ask him," she said intensely.

Kat gave instructions on where her laptop was located in her room and politely asked Kyle if he would go get it for her.

He only shook his head again, knowing his boss wouldn't be happy with his participation.

Chance walked in just minutes later with Grizzly happily following him and noticed Kyle walking towards Kat, holding her laptop.

"What's going on?" he asked, looking towards Kyle.

Kyles's eyes grew bigger, and he intentionally looked at Kat.

"I'm going to start working."

"Not yet," he said firmly.

She cut her eyes up at Chance and asked, "Look. It's obvious that I could use some help. But instead of babysitting me, Kyle and I could work. If I need someone, he's nearby. It's a win-win," she shrugged her shoulders.

His mouth began to open with a rebuttal, but she quickly knew how to end the discussion, "I would feel better with him here really."

After he saw her in the floor that way, there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. Leaving his best friend here to work, to make sure she had someone to help her. It was exactly what he wanted. Well, not exactly.

His entire demeanor changed, "Well, Kyle you heard her."

She quickly turned and smiled at Kyle. But he wasn't smiling. He looked shocked at how easily his boss conceded to her request.

That's when she remembered, "Oh my gosh, have I made you late?"

Chance had no idea what she was talking about, "For what?"

"You said you were leaving to go back to New York today."

A softness replaced his confused expression as he told her, "It can wait."

Kat spent the next twenty minutes begging Chance not to make any changes. To go about his routine and she and Kyle would update him later in the week. Chance was unyielding. She didn't understand the full extent of his decision. As she pleaded her case, he could only see her lying on the floor, helpless again. He knew right then that he wasn't going to New York tonight.

Chance did excuse himself to return next door to make some phone calls when Kyle said he was going to the house to get the work files and bring them back over.

As Chance said goodbye, Kyle told her he'd be right back and tried to behave as though he didn't see her watch Chance leave.

When Kyle returned, Kat was sitting up with her laptop ready.

He began slowly, keeping her condition in mind but the further he went along, he could tell immediately that she was following completely with the vision of the company. He laid out page after page, reviewing together the current successes of the new machines and their marketing viability.

"I have an idea," she said with an understanding in her eyes.

She grabbed her laptop from the table again, beside her, and began typing as she spoke aloud to Kyle.

"Exactly!" he said after she had nearly typed an entire page.

Kyle had fixed her coffee if she asked, helped her get around the house as she needed and she continued writing away, with little pause, the entire afternoon.

"Let me go and pick up dinner. What's your favorite Katherine?" Kyle offered. It was decided on Japanese, and he quickly left.

As she sipped on her coffee, there was a knock on her door. She turned to see Chance standing there. He waved casually and she motioned for him to come in.
