Chp 5 - A Thorough Lesson

Y/N POV:

Y/N sweated under her name as it was her turn. She never attacked anyone before, nor with a sharp weapon before. Still nonetheless Y/N didn't want to back down. She held strong readying her dagger. Like Kris, she aimed for the best shot she would attack. In a flash, she swiped at the dummy, damaging it as a piece of fabric fell off. The damage wasn't exactly like Kris's, quite less, but still effective. "Good speed Y/N. That will be useful in a battle if you need to fight." Ralsei smiled. Y/N grew quite embarrassed at his praise, and she caught a nod from Kris agreeing. "T-Thanks. This is just my first time doing this." Y/N said.

"Ok, next let's try defending! Simply defend, and the enemy's attack will hurt less. Not only that, but you can also gather TP!" Ralsei explained. "Watch the orange big bar on the left. I'll explain about that later." He added. Y/N noticed the defend button in front her. Curious, she clicked it. Her dagger on her hand disappeared, and her arms grew heavy as she felt armor appearing on her bodysuit. It felt a little uncomfortable but she started to get used to it. Kris on the hand, had a huge beige shield, the same color as their(♡) sword. Following Ralsei's instructions, Y/N could see the "TP" Ralsei was talking about, rising on the bar, as they dodged the enemy's attacks nearly. "Great job you two!" Ralsei exclaimed. "Now how about spending that TP on one my spells, or Y/N's?" Ralsei eyed Kris. "W-Wait, spells? I don't know any magic." Y/N said puzzled. "Oh right, I forgot to tell you. Y/N you possess magic, like me! But I am pretty sure your magic holds more power than mine." He explained. "I never knew that.." Y/N mumbled, she looked at her hands trembling. "Would you like to try a spell Y/N? I can save my pacify spell for later." Ralsei offered. Y/N thought for a moment, then gave a hesitant nod.

"It's okay, you'll do fine," Y/N heard Kris say. Their(♡) soft voice, more clearer, soothing Y/N's ears. They(♡) were standing almost right next to her, as she grew a little flustered. "Y-You really think so?" Y/N gulped. Kris nodded and gave a small thumbs up. Their(♡) small support calmed Y/N and courage started to build up in her. "Ok, what do I need to do Ralsei?" She asked him. "Ok, we can do a basic spell of healing. Since we attacked the enemy," Ralsei motioned to the dummy, "we can always heal our enemies for mercy, or even our allies if we get too low on HP." Y/N nodded. "Let's try healing Kris. Now I want you to focus." YN let out a long breath trying to relax. "Try to remember the TP you gather. That is your energy for your magic. Try thinking of Kris being hurt, and the will to heal them." Y/N tried to visualize Kris being injured, and needing serious help. Her desire to help Kris grew stronger. "You're doing great Y/N," Ralsei cheered. "Now try to use the TP, and configure the magic towards Kris." Ralsei responded.

Y/N did as they said, having it easier than she thought. Focusing her magic on Kris, she managed to heal them, thought they were already at full HP. "You did it Y/N! I knew you could do it!" Ralsei congratulated. Y/N let out a breath, not of exhaustion but of relief. She couldn't believe she'd done a spell. She looked at her hands again, wonder in her e/c eyes. "Great job," Kris complimented quietly. They had a small smile, which for some reason made Y/N warm inside. "T-Thanks." She mumbled.

"Why don't we try my pacifist spell now?" Ralsei asked. "Because you hit the enemy enough, it got tired. Now if I use my pacify spell on it, it'll fall asleep and we'll win peacefully!" Ralsei explained. Since Kris was in charge of the team, they chose spells. And clicked pacify. Ralsei used his pacify spell on the dummy, which wasn't actually effective since it was well, a dummy. "Great Kris! We would have won the battle by now! Now I have just a little more to teach you. Acting! Through this even the most violent enemies can be defeated by various acts of kindness! Kris, Y/N though it is just a dummy, why not give it a hug?" Ralsei asked politely. Y/N thought for a moment, and when she clicked act she thought whether she should hug Ralsei instead. 'He would appreciate it and it would be a small thanks for this tutorial.' Y/N thought. It was Kris's turn, so they(♡) hugged the dummy. It seemed like a genuine hug. "Awww, that's great Kris!" Ralsei complimented. For some reason, Y/N wished she was the dummy Kris hugged. But she immediately shook the thought away. Kris went back to their(♡) place after hugging the dummy. "Each enemy has different acts that satisfy them. When an enemy is satisfy, it's name turns yellow. When that happens, you can defeat it by sparing it! If we spare all the enemies we meet, we'll never have to fight them again." He informed. It was Y/N's turn. She went over to Ralsei and gave him a warm hug. His shadowed fur was soft. Y/N could tell that he was shocked by the contact.

"Y..Y/N-?" He stammered awkwardly. Y/N started to regret her action, as she started to sweat nervously. "Ummm, I don't think um, this is what you're supposed to be doing, but.." he finished, quite embarrassed. Y/N let go of him quickly and went back to her position as she let out a breath. She could see that Kris found it also awkward that she hugged Ralsei randomly, but she couldn't help it. The fluffy boy looked like he needed a hug. "Now that the dummy's name is yellow, we can spare it now!" Ralsei said. Kris spared the dummy. "Great job Kris! That'd be the end in a real battle! I'm really happy I had the chance to teach you, both!" He concluded his lesson.

"Oh, that was fun! You're both wonderful students, Kris, Y/N." He thanked the both. "..and er, in case you ever need a refresher, I.." Ralsei suddenly reached something in his pocket, pulling out a large book. It seemed a little dusty. "Here! I wrote a Manuel for you guys and Susie!" He offered, though it seemed quite unnecessary since now that they knew how to win a battle. But reluctantly , Kris took the Manuel and they both nodded thanks.

Kris led the way, exiting the training ground. Ahead, Y/N could see a huge yellow gate in the distance. It seemed like it's doors were opened. "Oh my! The Great Door is opened!" Ralsei explained, shock in his eyes. "Why, is it supposed to not be opened?" Y/N asked. "No it isn't! No wonder Lancer was able to come through." Ralsei stopped, seeming to be thinking of something. "Guys, once we pass through this door, our adventure will really begin.." Ralsei said. Y/N gulped, quite mystified at the way Ralsei had said it. "Let's rest for today, it's been a long day." Ralsei said. "And then we can start our journey to find Susie." He finished. "Okay," Y/N said, agreeing.  The three settled into a comfortable spot, exhaustion coming like a wave on them. Y/N closed her eyes slowly, succumbing into a deep rest.
