The situation was getting way out of hand. Matt hid in the shadows, trying to contemplate what was going on. It all happened so fast.
Ethan Winters came into the castle looking for his baby daughter. He escaped capture and killed Bela. He fucking killed her! And now he was gonna kill the other ones as well.
This had to be a nightmare. Or was it a dream come true? He wanted to escape, to be free again, right? He certainly wouldn't have to worry about the vampires draining and killing him anymore. Or doing even worse things.
But that would mean never seeing Alcina again. And he couldn't imagine being without her anymore. But did she truly loved him like she claimed? Hadn't she made it clear that he was beneath her? But if he would become one of them he would be an equal. Right?
Matt was so lost in thought that he nearly overheard the footsteps nearby. He pushed the curtains to the side and saw Ethan Winters. He held his pistol in hand and looked around, searching for the Dimitrescus.
The world around Matt didn't matter anymore. All he could think of was Alcina and her daughters. Yes they were monsters but he grew to love them. He rushed to Ethan and got a hold of his gun. "Who the hell are you?! What are you doing?!" Ethan asked him. And he himself did not know. But it felt right.
He found himself pointing the gun at Ethans leg, like in Trance. And then he pulled the trigger.
Ethan fell to the ground and cursed Matt, who was in shock. By all the gods, what did he do? He just condemned this man do death, a man that was simply looking out for his daughter. Who wanted her back.
But the Dimitrescu were his family now. And he had to protect them.
"Mama! He shot him!" he heard Cassandra calling our for Alcina.
"I'm so sorry..." Matt stuttered and threw the pistol away before running away once more.
Alcina arrived just then. "There you are, Ethan Winters. A rat cannot run from the dragons claws." She picked him up. "Now you will pay for what you did to my daughter." She extended her claws.
"Off with your head!" she shouted and cut off Ethans head with her claws, then dropping his corpse to the floor. She looked over to her two remaining daughters. "Daughters, feast upon this man."
"Yes.... Yes.... YES!" Cassandra dived in, followed by Daniela.
Alcina hated it when they behaved that way, just eating from the floor and in such a grotesque manner no less. But she had more important things to worry about. "I must tend to Bela now and inform Mother Miranda."
Hours later...
Matt carefully peaked inside of Alcinas room and saw an incredible, almost impossible sight. Bela was lying in bed, all intact and looking just as alive the last time he saw her. Her eyes were closed and she was covered in more blankets than he could imagine. Alcina was holding her in her arms and the fireplace was also lit. "Bela... You are back. Oh, when the Duke told me of a cure to brink you back, I thought he was messing with me. But here you are. I suppose I owe him an apology. And thankfully Miranda had more of the Cadeau parasite."
Bela opened her eyes and Alcina rejoiced. It was the first time he had seen her so happy. "Oh my beautiful butterfly. You came back to me." Bela tried to speak but she shushed her. "No, no. Don't speak. You have to recover your strength. Please don't leave us, I couldn't bear it."
Alcina noticed Matt and waved him closer. He did as she asked and was greeted with a kiss on the forehead. "Cassandra told me you shot Ethan Winters. Thank you." She hugged him.
Matt was still in shock. "Yeah I... I still can't believe I did that." He felt sick, sick to the core. But he couldn't help himself, he had to do it. He wanted to do it.
"It is normal to be shocked." Alcina said, reading the expression on his face. "I even might have spared him if he hadn't hurt my Bela." She grew angry. "This is all Heisenbergs fault, that fool. He should have killed him right then and there and now this. He wouldn't know responsibility if it was welded onto that hammer of his! Next time I will slice him to ribbons!"
"Mylady..." He held her hand.
Alcina looked down at him. His touch and voice were enough to calm her down and she sighed. "Forgive me. I have to talk to Mother Miranda now so I entrust Belas care into your capable hands. Get as many servants as necessary. This room must become a fortress! Make sure the fire is always lit and let her drink the best wine we have."
"Yes, Mylady." he nodded. Alcina left right away, even though she really didn't want to. Now Matt an important task ahead of him and he was going to make his Lady proud.
