Chapter 16: Please Let Me Go

Start from the beginning

"The shadow of greed that is."

Orla looked up, listening to her master's voice, of course after she left the Jedi was when she started to see her old master's wisdom. It would only be greedy and out of spite to fight him, there's no one to prove to and no one to see her take down the most hunted Sith during the Clone Wars. Her ultimate goal was to be stronger than Dooku when she was at the temple, to prove she was a better apprentice to Yoda and a stronger duelist. That was her motivation, but now that he's dead and the Jedi are gone there's no one to prove it to but herself.

"I don't need to fight you anymore, I'll only be fighting myself." She turned to leave him behind until he shouted out.

"Skywalker was always supposed to kill me. It was all a part of my master's plan, as will your death be. Sidious was very particular about getting rid of the Jedi sentinels. Either you will turn or be killed by Sidious' hand or his apprentice's."

She turned her whole body back to Dooku, "Skywalker?"

"No, Vader. He calls himself... Darth Vader."

"Anakin Skywalker was weak. I destroyed him."

Stunned, she turned back. If it was ever revealed a Jedi sentinel was on the run Sidious would surely send him after her and she could put Hunter's, whole squad, in danger. After Doku returned to his portal and Orla found herself drifting back into consciousness, with everything and nothing on her mind. It reminded her of the test she had to do as a padawan to determine if she can become a Jedi.

Tech and Hunter took shifts keeping an eye on Orla through most of the night. Hunter took his fourth shift of watching over her. Tech didn't tell the others about what had happened, it was the middle of the night and Tech was so sure she would be ok and awake by the morning that he didn't want to bother them. But Echo ended up waking up during Tech's shift after another nightmare. He didn't tell them about that yet again but worrying about Orla took his mind off of it.

During Hunter's shift, he studied her vitals on Tech's datapad and almost missed a twitch in her hand in the corner of his eye. He shot up straight and stared at her hand, hoping he didn't imagine it. It happened again, her arm moved across the table and her eyes started to flutter open.

Hunter caught her arm and held onto her back to help her sit up. "Orla, Orla are you alright?"

She blinked a few times to process the time she had spent away.

"Yeah, Hunter I'm ok." She answered while swinging her legs to depart from the bed. Hunter breathed a sigh of relief,

"I'm so glad."

Orla didn't expect his words to send butterflies down her stomach, but they did. "You didn't need to be worried."

"Yeah, Tech said so."

"Tech was here?"

"We took turns watching over you Tech, me and Echo."

"And Echo?"

"Yeah, is that ok? Echo only woke up around an hour ago, maybe 2."

"Really? Did you ask why?" She had worried she had missed an

episode of Echo's nightmares and wasn't there for him.

"I didn't think anything of it. Why? Should I have?"

Tired, she let him figure it out, "no I guess not."

Tech couldn't shut off and go to sleep without getting the answers he wanted about the cause of Orla's unconsciousness. So he took it upon himself to ask her. Thankfully she hadn't fallen asleep yet and was sitting on her bed with her Holocron in her hands but it wasn't activated.
