''You look so hot like that.''
Baji had forgotten to knock but fortunately Y/n was already fully dressed and fixing her hair in front of the mirror. She turned to him, showing off the costume. ''I don't know, I think I look weird.''
Approaching her, Baji turned her towards the mirror so both of them can see her reflection. He hugged her waist and rested his head on her shoulder with a lazy smile on his face. ''You look awesome. Let's take a picture, yeah?''
Y/n didn't protest as she usually would, seeing as she wanted to lift his mood at least a bit. Hopefully, he would be able to relax tonight when they were going to hang out with his friends. He really deserved it.
''Wait, snap one with my phone, too,'' Y/n said. They might look ridiculous, but she doubted she would ever wear that costume again, so might as well get a memory of it. And, not that she would admit, Baji looked quiet hot with that cow-vest of his.
The laughs and smiles in that one hour almost made her forget there was something wrong with Baji.
After a while the jeans got uncomfortable, so they decided to change back in their clothes. ''Y/n,'' Baji spoke from her bed. ''Wanna read the new things you've written to me?''
Usually, Baji read it himself. It felt weird reading your own work out loud, but she was willing to do it for him. So, she grabbed her notebook before making her way to the bed, sitting down next to Baji, only to be pulled to his lap.
She didn't protest. She started reading out the few pages she wrote since the last time he read her notes, whilst Baji clung on her as if she was his life-line. As if, if he let go, she would disappear and leave him alone.
''Keisuke.'' She closed her notebook once she finished the pages, letting it fall on her bed next to the two of them. ''There's something wrong. Please tell me, you're worrying the shit out of me.''
And once again, he took a moment before answering with a small smile. ''Everything is . . . okay.''
She wanted to scream at him. To demand ask him what was going on with him, why he didn't want to share his troubles with her. Did he not trust her? Did he not think she would help him? And as much as she wanted to yell at him, she knew that wouldn't help him, so she kept her mouth shut.
Why are you being like this, Kei . . .
His phone rang. He answered it, saying he'll be there in a bit. Where, Y/n didn't know. She walked him to the door, each of them now in a rather gloomy mood. As she watched him put on his shoes, Y/n felt her stomach do somersaults, but not from the good kind. An ominous feeling filled her.
Baji hugged her tight before pressing a kiss to her lips. This felt like a goodbye for some reason, even though she knew she will see him later when they go out. ''I love you,'' spilled from his lips along with a smile and once again didn't wait for her to say it back.
She wanted to run after him, to yell it out as well. But she didn't.

Chifuyu wasn't sure about how he got into this predicament.
He was crouching on the ground, tears streaming down his cheeks as he held on Baji's limp body, which was slowly growing cold. Even though he had just stabbed himself, he was smiling. His white fangs standing out against the blood that dripped down his chin as he talked about how precious the gang was to him.
Chifuyu knew there was something going on. Maybe if he was more persistent about helping Baji, they wouldn't be here now. They would be getting ready and he would see the matching Halloween costumes with Y/n he had been bragging about for a month. They would be going out, throwing eggs at cars and scaring little kids, maybe feed a few strays on the way.
And most importantly, Baji wouldn't be dying.
''Yo, Chifuyu,'' Baji grabbed his friend's attention. Chifuyu could see the light leaving his bronze eyes, which caused him to sob even louder. ''You know . . . I'm sad I didn't get to read Y/n's book . . . You'll read it for me, right?''
Chifuyu choked on his sobs as he shook his head. ''N-No, Baji-san, c'mon. You'll read it yourself, yeah? Y/n will be so happy for you to read it personally, so you gotta hold on.''
Baji chuckled, his eyes moving to the bright blue sky. The color reminded him of Y/n's first notebook. ''Chifuyu,'' he started again, not having the strength to look at his friend again. ''I'd kill for some peyong right now.''
At that point, Chifuyu felt like he had ran out of tears to cry. ''I'll go buy you some.''
''We'll split it, right?'' Baji spoke weakly. Chifuyu felt a fresh, hot stream of tears roll down his cheeks as Baji grinned. ''Thanks . . . Chifuyu.''
And thus, Baji Keisuke breathed his last breath.
''Baji-san . . .?'' Chifuyu started almost huccuping as he realized Baji had finally passed on. No. No. No. No. No. ''BAJI-SAAAAAAN!''

Y/n's eyes flew between the clock and the two costumes hung on her dresser, waiting to be worn. It was six o'clock and Baji was supposed to be at her house around an hour ago, yet he was nowhere to be seen. Him not picking up his phone made the feeling in her stomach even worse
The ring of the doorbell feels like a weight fell of her shoulders. She almost ran into the front door before she opened it. ''Kei-''
It wasn't Baji standing in front of the door, but rather a very tear-stained, red-faced Chifuyu in his Toman uniform. He was fiddling with his fingers and looking like he just came from war. The feeling in her stomach became even worse than before.
''Hey, Chifuyu,'' Y/n spoke with uneasiness in her voice. ''Where's . . . Where's Keisuke?''
''Y/n . . .'' Chifuyu almost started sobbing again. ''Baji-san . . . he . . .'' And he told her what had happened. What Baji had done for Toman. The sacrifice he'd made.
She wasn't sure when her legs had given out, completely ignoring the fact that she had fallen on her knees and Chifuyu had yelled out her name as he reached out to catch her a second too late. Her eyes simply remained wide with tears streaming down her cheeks as she looked at the white hallway wall behind Chifuyu. He tried to talk to her, to ask her if she was okay.
''We were always going to say goodbye, weren't we?''
''Yeah. I think so.''
''I loved you, though. I love you so much.''
Pause.
''I know, I know. I love you, too, pretty.''
I never got to tell him I love him.
