抖阴社区

She had a life to get back to. Was it the most amazing, luxurious, and fun life? No. But it was her life. She wasn't going to stop until she got back to that.

On day six, she ran again. She made it father this time, but not by much. She was still scared of him and apologized profusely, in hopes he wouldn't hurt her. Yet he never did and never would.

By day ten, she did a better job of covering her trail. While she was harder to find this time, she was still easily caught. He wordlessly brought her back and they ate their lunch in an uncomfortable silence.

By day eleven he found her standing by the entrance of the castle, ready to run out, but this time she just.... Stood there. She didn't run out. She didn't try to be secretive. She just stood there and stared blankly.

Kyros towered above her, food in his hands, confused by her actions. He set down the food and lowered his head to ask her quietly, "Posie run?" He didn't think she would now that he was standing directly in front of her. There was no point, right?

She was silent a moment as she looked off in the distance, seemingly deep in thought. Finally, she rasped, "yes." She swallowed hard and slowly lifted her head to meet his gaze. "I will always run from you."

Later that night, that's exactly what she did.

He had warned her before that the night was the most dangerous time to be out. He even rarely went out at that time. In the season they were in now, the temperature dropped drastically at night, making snow and ice that wasn't there in the daylight appear suddenly. Evil, blood thirsty creatures ran free in the frozen jungle, craving to kill anything that crossed its path. Plants like she had almost touched that looked harmless and inviting could cause disease and in some cases if not treated fast enough, death.

Yet she went out anyway. Thankfully, he found her before any other creature could.

He was mad- livid this time around. He didn't even wait for her to notice his presence. He didn't let her walk back herself. He found her, hoisted her over his broad shoulder like she was a little rag doll, and carried her all the way back home.

She shivered in the cold, thankful for the warmth his body emanated, but didn't lean into it. The look on his face terrified her too much to do so.

His scales, for the first time, felt rough against her skin. Being in his arms and being held high up off the ground was a harsh reality of how huge he was. The low growls that he struggled to keep at bay reminded her of how inhuman he was.

When they got back to the room, he set her back down next to the bed in a huff, and took a seat on the hay mattress. He placed his head in his hands, his black claws digging into his white hair, and released a frustrated sigh.

Though she wanted to yell and scream at him for bringing her back here, she stopped herself. She's never.... Seen him like this before. Most the time when he'd bring her back, he'd act disappointed, but also as if nothing happened.

Did she push her luck too much this time?

She awkwardly cleared her throat and on instinct his eyes immediately snapped up. He reached out to make sure she was okay and she reeled back, nearly stumbling over her own feet.

He didn't chase after her this time to make sure she didn't fall. He didn't trip over his broken English to ask her if she was okay. Instead, he sat there, a sullen look on his face. "Every time I touch you, there's a moment where you look like it will hurt." He whispered in his language, harshly. "You're so.... you're so afraid of me."

Her eyebrows furrowed, unable to understand his language.

He sighed and ran a hand down his face, thinking. "Kyros.... Never hurt Posie. Why scared?" He bit out and prayed he pieced the right words together.

Her posture suddenly grew defensive. "Why wouldn't I be scared of you?"

He looked taken back at her bold words, confused and hurt by them.

That's when she couldn't take it anymore. She was done with him kidnapping her and making her feel bad for it. She was scared, alone, and absolutely fed up with being on an alien planet with no recollection of why or how she got here. "I want my home back!" She spat, bitterly. "I want my life back! I want my family! I want my freedom back! I don't know why-"

She stopped herself.

Why?

So many "why's" floating around in her head. A question she wasn't sure she'd ever get the answer to.

"Why me!?" She screamed, hoarsely, surprising herself with her sudden burst of courage. "What do you want from me!? Why am I here!?"

"Posie will.... Kyros and Posie will love-" she was quick to cut off whatever lies that were about to spew past his horrifying fangs.

"I'll never love it here. I'll never love this place." She snapped. It took her a second, but she realized that's not what he was going to say.

Suddenly, it all made sense. Why he hadn't hurt her, the flowers he brought her, the meals he'd make for her, the way he wanted to make this her home...

He wanted her to love him.

Her look of horrid quickly morphed into disgust. "I will never love you." She whispered, harshly. "How could you ever ask me to do that?"

She swallowed hard and turned her gaze away, jaw tightly clenched in attempts to stop anymore tears. He's insane.

His eyes narrowed and he slowly stood from the bed, towering over her. He didn't know everything she shouted at him, but he got the majority of it. "Kyros never hurt Posie or be.... not kind." He said sternly, suddenly in front of her. She froze as his massive hand cupped her face and his clawed fingers stroked her jaw.

She craned her neck back to look him dead in the eye. Her brain screamed at her to be quiet to stay alive.
Instead, she seethed, "Holding people hostage is unkind."

His grip tightened, just a fraction, but enough for her breath to catch in her throat. He inspected her, heated eyes trailing all over her face, before he decided to let her go. "Potc umja tejc fubo vequoja jequm geh no.... Iog Y'ja mobol ozkosg chug eh iea. Y ozkosg chon geh vequ jequm geh iea geeh." He muttered, darkly.

She stepped back, surprised by his tone, but was oblivious what his words meant. Her eyes casted down, not knowing how to respond.

"Posie happy with Kyros." He frowned in distaste at his poor English. It made him sound like a child.

"Happy," She murmured in a hushed but harsh voice. "You hope for me to be happy."

She crossed the room to pick up the flower he gifted her, not caring that she crushed it with how she handled it. She shoved it against his chest and seethed, "I will never be happy with you."

Later that night, she tried to run again. Yet this time, she wasn't being chased by Kyros.

She screwed up big time this time.

"Potc umja tejc fubo vequoja jequm geh no.... Iog Y'ja mobol ozkosg chug eh iea. Y ozkosg chon geh vequ jequm geh iea geeh." = "Kings and gods have bowed down to me.... Yet I'd never expect that of you. I expect them to bow down to you too."

Question of the chapter: did Posie crushing the flower break your heart just as much mine did when I wrote it? 😂
