"Aoi." The blue-haired girl stated.
"Wait...I feel like I've heard that before..." Amber muttered.
Please don't remember the time I said her name the first time we met her. That was a slip-up.
"You know who I am, don't you?" Principal asked.
"Of course I do." Aoi nodded. "The S Rank Adventurer Aiko Kato."
Right, Principal is one of the five S Rank Adventurers in Japan. I forgot about that. Goku Taiyou, Brandon Tsuki, and Aiko Kato are the three I know.
Maybe I should search the other two up later at some point...
"Good. Now, I'm going to ask your permission for something very important. I'd wish to take a look through your memories. Will you allow me?" Principal asked.
"What will happen?" Aoi replied.
"It's a powerful skill. I'll see the major points of your life through your eyes. That's why I'm asking permission, even though you could be our enemy. It's an extreme invasion of privacy." Principal explained. "Will you allow me?"
Aoi thought about it for a second, before giving Principal her answer. "Yes."
"Alright. It's been a long while since I've done this." Principal stated, extending her arm.
In her hand, a weapon started to materialize. A midnight black staff appeared in her hands. The end was curved, and inside of the curve was a floating red crystal. It was my first time seeing her Arcana.
"Morrigan." She whispered. She moved the tip of the staff to Aoi's head.
Aoi closed her eyes. A soft red glow emitted from the staff as Principal subsequently closed her eyes as well.
A couple seconds passed in silence as the two stood there. The red glow faded from the crystal, as Principal and Aoi opened their eyes.
It was silent once more as Principal and Aoi stared at each other. And then Principal moved, walking towards Aoi.
Aoi closed her eyes, likely expecting death. But instead she found two arms wrapped around her as Principal drew her into a hug.
"I'm sorry." She whispered, a tear running down her eye. "For everything you've gone through."
"It's fine." Aoi muttered. "It wasn't your fault."
"Alright. You're free to go." Principal stated. "I'll help you get onto your feet and take you the direction you want in life, okay?"
"I want...I want to become an Adventurer..." Aoi muttered.
"That can be arranged." Principal lightly smiled.
She separated herself from Aoi, her face turning serious.
"But there's dreadful news." Principal stated. "I finally found the answer I've been looking for. All of the Children Of Lupercio have been killings themselves before I could find out, but thanks to Aoi, I now know. The Demon King is returning."
Now this wasn't a shock to Aoi, Merlin, or I, but the others it was a huge shock. Even Irene and Bianca gasped in a mixture of surprise and fear. Well, everyone except for Erica, who was just confused.
And I feigned a gasp to keep my cover.
"Y-you don't mean the same one the Four Great Sages sealed, do you...?" Lily asked, her face showing horrific fright.
"I do." Principal sadly nodded. "It seems that he's the cause of the increase in rifts recently. That, and all of the chaos that his Children Of Lupercio have caused."
"Uhh...who is this Demon King?" Erica asked.
"What?!" Yui exclaimed. "Even if you're from America, you should know!"
"I uh...I don't." Erica shrugged.
"When the rifts opened up 50 years ago, with them came a threat that could enslave and destroy our whole world." Principal stated. "The only way it was stopped was by the Four Great Sages sealing the Demon King away." Principal explained.
"If he's coming back...that means we're back at 50 years ago. But no one knows that he is actually coming back. His arrival will be a surprise." Principal stated. "I must inform the Council about this immediately."
"Don't." Merlin rejected.
"And...why shouldn't I?" Principal asked, narrowing her eyes at Merlin.
"We believe he has a spy." Merlin simply stated.
I mean, yeah. The king. I took him out.
Wait, unless Merlin means there's another?!
"And why do you think that?" Principal asked.
"Clairvoyance. I've seen some spy's reveal themselves." Merlin stated.
She must have been thinking about the king, Stryker, and even Eiko who betrayed us.
"Then who? And why have I not heard about this?" Principal asked, crossing her arms.
Merlin thought about how to answer. She knew them because of her clairvoyance, but how would she explain that no one knew because I killed them?
She couldn't, not without confessing my sins. But if there really was another spy, which there's a high likeliness of with how easy these guys get into major events, then we can't let the Principal.
"Stryker." I said. "He was a spy."
"Seriously?" Principal asked surprised, turning towards me. "He went missing! Was that because you blew his cover as a member of the Children Of Lupercio? Why didn't you tell me?"
I took a deep breath, steeling myself.
Merlin turned towards me, eyes wide. "Wait, don't-!"
"Because I killed him." I stated.
"...what?" Principal let out, staring at me with wide eyes.
"He tried to murder me. And in our struggle, I learned that he was a member. And to keep myself alive, I killed him." I stated.
"Oh god, Ken." Principal took in a shaky breath. "I'm...I'm so sorry...I had no idea...you shouldn't have had to gone through that..."
I'll refrain from letting her know about the other murders I have committed.
"This is...worrying." Principal took a deep breath, getting back onto track. "So we're the only ones who can know..."
"Yes." Merlin nodded. "Our next step should be re-obtaining the seal that sealed the Demon King fifty years ago."
"Does that still exist?" Principal asked. "And where would it even be? Ugh, I'm going to have to go studying the books about the Four Great Sages again..."
"There's no need." Merlin smiled. "We can just ask your father, can't we, Granddaughter of the Great Sage Akira Kato?"
