19. Cat Nap

Shinso pointed up the stairs. "She fell asleep."

Mihoko raised her eyebrows. "In your bed?"

Shinso nodded.

Mihoko grinned. "You have a girl in your bed and you're down here talking to your parents?!"

"She is a friend!" Shinso stated. "Nothing more!"

"Mhm" Mihoko hummed. "Sure, whatever you say Hitoshi."

"What?!- What's that supposed to mean?" Shinso asked.

"I think we all know what that means." Hajime chimed in.

Mihoko giggled. "You're all red! You're all red!"

Shinso turned his head away. "No I'm not!"

Mihoko leaned over and grabbed her son's face, pinching his cheeks and shaking his head. "Yes you are! You're so cute Hitoshi, you clearly have a crush"

"Cut it out!" Shinso whined as he swatted at her hands. Once she let go of his cheeks he rubbed them. "I'm not- I'm not that obvious. Am I?" He asked quietly.

"You're fine" Hajime assured him. "As long as you're not confronted about it, but hey, I say go for it."

"Go for it?!" Shinso shouted. "Are you crazy? Have you seen the kids in that hero class she's in?! I'd probably be her last pick! And- and you saw the way she hugged Todoroki at the end of their test, she doesn't hug me like that... Those two are childhood friends, and he has such a strong quirk and such good grades on everything- I can't compete with that!"

"I saw her hugging you the other day" Mihoko pointed out. "And what are you talking about, saying you can't compete with that boy? You hang out with her almost everyday! So what if they're childhood friends, that might be all they are."

"I guess..." Shinso mumbled. "But she was only hugging me the other day because Indigo was bothering her."

"What?" Hajime asked.

Shinso sighed. "She's scared of cats."

Hajime raised his eyebrows out of surprise. "Really? Huh, I wouldn't have guessed that."

Shinso nodded. "Right? Like how does this little furball-"

He went to reach for Indigo but froze when he saw that he wasn't there.

"Um... did anyone see where Indigo went?" He asked.

He got his answer when he heard a shriek from upstairs.

"Uh-oh" Mihoko whispered.

"Well..." Hajime said. "I guess we know where he is."

"She's gonna be pissed." Shinso said before he jumped up off the couch and rushed up the stairs.

He cursed at himself when he saw that he had left his bedroom door open a bit.

"Shinso!" He heard you shout from inside his room.

"I'm coming!" He called back.

Shinso ran into his room and saw you trying to hide behind a pillow on the corner of his bed. Indigo sat infront of you, slowly moving his tail back and forth almost tauntingly.

He scooped Indigo up and placed him outside his room, making sure to close the door this time before going back over to you.

He sat on the edge of bed and sighed. "Sorry, I thought I closed the door."

You tossed the pillow onto his bed and crawled over to hug him.

"He was touching me!" You said as you sobbed into his shoulder.
