Jaylee's POV
A week later:
"Liam I need you to come to the car dealership with me today." Louis announced as he walked into the kitchen.
"Are you gonna go through with it after all?" Liam raised an eyebrow as he dug his hand in a bag of chips.
"Yes I am. It has great horse power and gas mileage." Louis smirked as he took his turn in sharing the chips with Liam.
"You didn't want the mustang GT?" Liam asked as he watched Louis munching on his snack.
"No. It didn't have as good miles per gallon as the hybrid." Louis replied as he walked away to wash his hands.
"Alright well I'm free for the day so we can go whenever." Liam spoke after swallowing.
"Great. I was thinking of leaving in 20." Louis commented as he dried his hands with a towel.
"That works for me. I'll get dressed then." Liam replied before he crunched the bag up and left it on the counter.
I didn't look up from my book as Liam walked past me, receiving a cold breeze from his fast pace.
The room fell silent for a while as I sat alone by the kitchen table, quiet with my own thoughts while my eyes bore into the interesting novel.
I tend to be more quiet as the day drags on, knowing I didn't have enough energy left to keep up with conversations that led to arguments. I sort of changed all together in this house. I spend my time alone, reading or drawing, while the others do their regular business and whatever they do in their rooms.
I could honestly care less how the day is spent, knowing I didn't have much of a life to begin with anymore. You could say I seemed depressed- but I wasn't. I was just mute....emotionless.... stale.... dry. Nothing to offer.
Louis sucked the life out of me figuratively speaking. I was drained and exhausted from the constant fighting every single day. But ever since I chose to stop talking, Louis didn't have a reason to be mad at me anymore. He finally stopped yelling at me and harassing me daily. He hardly even spoke to me to begin with. He spent most of his time in his room, working on new assignments and finding new cars for the group.
I guess the gang all together just stopped associating with one another. They all keep to themselves and usually talk when it involves a job or business. It was interesting seeing them grow apart- but there was nothing I could do to put it back together. Everything got destroyed the second they lied to me and took my parents- it's just unfortunate that their consequences are finally catching up to them.
"I see you really like that book." Louis announced as I felt his eyes on me.
"It's interesting." I replied in a nice tone, knowing I don't snap at him anymore.
"When did I buy that for you again?" Louis asked as he crossed his arms and leaned against the counter.
"A few months ago.... I just never got around to it." I said as I turned a page.
"I forgot I bought you books." Louis responded as he rubbed his chin.
"It was when I moved in and you wanted to cheer me up." I stated as I roamed my eyes over the page.
"Oh... now I remember." He chuckled as I tried to concentrate.
"Do you want to come to the dealership with us? You can ride in the new car with me." Louis offered as my chest tightened- remembering how much I hated being alone with him.
"I promised Zayn I would make him lunch today since he's been busy." I rejected as I didn't once look over at him.
He grew quite for a while which made me nervous, wondering if what I said would make him explode or turn into an argument.
