"well, then you do it and let me copy off." I said smirking.
"yeah, no. We are doing it together. And no, there is no option for not doing it because I care about my grades."
I sighed as I looked at the book on my desk. "alright, in the library at 6 if you're free?"
"today?"
"yep."
"oh Ok, yeah I'm free."I turn to the clock in the room and start packing my books and quill in my bag as I notice that class is going to end soon.
"so, see you in the library, Lupin."
The students start walking to the doors as the class gets over and I don't wait for a reply as I join the small crowd.
I go to my dorm for the free period as I start my potions assignment. It is quite long and it's going to take a lot of time to complete.
Time skip:-
I picked up my stuff as I made my way to the library. I really didn't think I would have to study here.
I kept my head down as I walked towards the said place. I really had no energy left for any social interaction and could live for a month without talking to anyone.
I walked in the quiet place and a sigh left my mouth at the wonderful room that had become my second dorm now. I decided to pick up some books of muggle studies before walking to a table where Remus was already sitting reading a muggle novel with no worries in the world. Oh! How much I would love to have a life like this.
I cleared my throat and sat in front of him slowly keeping the books down and giving him a small smile, probably the first time I smiled at him, but I didn't exactly notice. I was too tired and just wanted the day to end.
We talked about what topic we wanted to take for the assignment. You see, professor wanted us to write some parchments about a particular muggle necessity.
Soon we were both sat in comfortable silence writing about electricity and circuits and light bulbs. The muggles did work a lot just to get light.
We had decided to just do the writing work first before making a practical circuit.
The surroundings were too quiet, as if something or someone was coming.
I heard footsteps and laughter and a loud "shhh" from whoever was incharge of the library before the new comers sat in front of me surrounding Remus.
So much for just trying to end the day. I rolled my eyes as they started talking to Remus about some prank that they pulled and zoned them out.
I was brought back to reality when I felt a ball of parchment hit on my head. I looked up see Sirius with his smirk as he said, "James asked you something."
I looked at James as he too smirked, " oh I was just wondering where you'll be spending Christmas, you know."
I wanted to ask him why would he care but decided to just cut short the conversation as I said, "I'd stay at Hogwarts."
"why wouldn't you want to spend Christmas with your family. " he said.
"oh, you forgot she's an orphan." Peter said lowly but still clearly.
"oh yeah, you don't have any parents. No wonder I have never seen you receive any mails. I doubt they would write to you even if they were with you." James said with a cocky smirk as if his own friend was not just kicked out of his house.
I had had enough as I got up suddenly startling them and slammed my book at the table. I didn't even care looking at James as I turned to Remus.
"I think its enough for today, isn't it? We'll do the rest later." I picked up my books and stormed out of the library as I heard Remus calling for me but being shushed out by the librarian.
I rushed to my dorm and just fell down on my bed. I had not thought about my parents for the whole time I was here and what he said was not the thing I wanted to think about.
Remus's pov:-
I sighed sinking back in my seat as the others just looked at me.
"oh come on moony, you can do the assignment tomorrow. You've got the whole week." Sirius said and Peter nodded.
"yeah I know, but you shouldn't have talked about her family like that."
"well why do care anyways moony, *gasp* don't tell me you have a crush on her." James said looking at me for any reaction but I just stared at him with an unamused look.
"really?" I said as Sirius nodded like something clicked.
"yeah, you are acting like when Prongs found out he liked Lily. Following her, being her partner, leaving your friends for her. You are madly in love."
"no, I'm not. I don't even like her that way."
"then why the chase, huh?" James said cocking his eyebrows at me.
I just started picking up my books and the ones that she left to get them back to their shelves as I answered.
"I'm just trying to get to know her. Don't you think it's weird, she's just been here and she knows so much about us. Also with this grindelwald shit going on, it's weird she even came to Hogwarts."
"so you're trying to figure out if she is danger or not." Peter said and I nodded.
"and also trying to be friends. You know she talks to Lily. She can help you figure out why she doesn't like you." I said.
"yeah she can. I'll have to see if she is cool enough to talk to us, though." James said as we all just chuckled.
I kept the last book and turned to them. "so, wanna pull the super awesome prank you were talking about?" I asked though I knew the answer.
"we thought you'd never ask."
