Tossing and Turning

Start from the beginning

Chaeyoung knew it would be hard to win against her in an argument; mothers always find a way to win although most of the time it isn't fair game. "What could possibly change my mind?" Raising her eyebrows, she signaled for the woman to continue to get it over as fast as possible.

"I think you should do it. That girl could teach you a new language, she could even be your model if you needed someone to draw! Besides, you always said you'd rather have a sister than a brother." From the corner of her eye, Chaeyoung could see her little brother's dramatic crying act. "We can go buy a new bed for her this weekend."

Rolling her eyes, she kind of gave in. "Fine, I'll think about it. I promise" She didn't actually mean it, but that would keep her mother content for now.

Her mom hit her head lightly with the magazine she was reading, "And don't you ever roll your eyes at me again, I'm your mother for god's sake." They both chuckled.

Chaeyoung's distinct ringtone (a Bieber song) was heard, so she hurriedly ran to her room. After a minute she screamed from her room, "Nayeon is picking me up in 10, we're going to the mall." Her mother knew once school started her daughter wouldn't have much time to hang out with her friends, so she let her go wherever she wanted as long as she came back at a reasonable time. Besides, Nayeon was their neighbor since forever and she was her favorite out of her daughter's friends, but of course she would never admit it even though the girl claimed it proudly.

Looking around the room, she put everything she could possibly need inside one of her tote bags and rushed to the kitchen to finish her food. "Also, mom, do you think you could give me some allowance? She said we're going to the hairdresser." Chaeyoung looked at her with begging eyes.

"Sure, honey. Take some from my purse," Chaeyoung wasn't the type of girl who would ask for money often, so whenever she asked for some, it was given to her without much asking. After a short forehead kiss, she rushed out the door and left, where Nayeon was impatiently waiting for her.

"Morning!" The younger bubbled and entered the vehicle; she loved riding in it.

"Get in Loser, we're going shopping." Nayeon joked, making the both of them giggle. Unplugging her friend's phone from the aux, she took charge of the music without even asking beforehand. "You're such a little shit, you're in MY car and you act like you own the place." She used her thumb to pull her middle finger inward, flicking it on Chaeyoung's forehead.

"Auch." The younger hissed while rubbing the 'harmed' area. "Shut up and look where we're going, if we crash I'm blaming you."

After the longest 20 minutes of their lives where they didn't stop roasting each other for more than 10 seconds, they arrived at the mall. As she had mentioned to the younger before, they went to a salon. It looked very expensive and she looked at Nayeon with wide eyes, who immediately whispered in her ear "I'll pay, they don't call me your mom for nothing." She winked.

The woman on the desk asked if they had an appointment, and after a few minutes, she guided the friends to the main room, where two men were waiting. Chaeyoung was holding on to Nayeon's hand tightly, she had never dyed her hair before and only cut it when the ends were dry; she was nervous.

"Hello ladies, we are Tim and Tom!" Tim pointed at himself with a huge smile and at his colleague after, who showed the same reaction. This made Chaeng a tiny bit less anxious, they seemed nice. "Sit down girls, do we have anything in mind?" Tim was analyzing Chaeyoung's face carefully from the mirror, imagining what would look good on her. She hadn't thought of anything, so she decided to keep it safe and just ask to cut a couple of centimeters off. She also hadn't discussed it with her mother, and the last thing she wanted was to make her mad.
