(Y/N) looked to the floor above him and saw that the hostages all had guns.
Sure enough, the Joker had a plot twist in mind.
He saw Natasha discovering the same thing a few floors above, then watched as she rushed to hide. Gordon's men had already entered the top floor.
He entered the above floor and instantly grabbed one of the clowns away from the windows, grabbing the others in rapid succession.
As the swat team entered from below him, (Y/N) threw an explosive between them and the Joker's men, knocking both groups back. He then went to knock out the swats with batarangs and his fists, before turning to the Joker's men.
Natasha was in a similar situation above him, taking out swats and the Joker's men with her signature acrobatic moves, using her Widow's bite whenever she could.
(Y/N) ascended to the next floor and saw that Natasha was still on the floor above him. That was fine - he could take the Joker himself for a few minutes.
The Joker turned. "You came. I'm so thrilled."
"Where's the detonator?" (Y/N) called out, but he was cut off as a pack of dogs came at him, their overwhelming force pushing him over.
He grabbed at the Rottweilers, attempting to throw them off him. When he did, the Joker suddenly appeared in his face, and sunk a switchblade in between his armor plates. (Y/N) recoiled in pain as the Joker attacked with a metal pipe, bashing him everywhere he could. He ended up shattering the sonar lenses.
The Joker threw the pipe away and kicked (Y/N) towards the open window. When (Y/N) was at the edge, the Joker dropped a steel beam on him, (Y/N)'s arms just barely reaching up to stop it from crushing his neck.
"If we don't stop fighting, we're going to miss the fireworks," The Joker said, smiling.
"There won't be any fireworks." (Y/N) saw that the clock had struck midnight.
"And here... we... go."
"What were you trying to prove? That deep down, everyone's just as ugly as you? You're alone."
"Can't rely on anyone these days," The Joker said, pondering. "Have to do everything yourself. I always have. And it's not always easy..." He smiled again, then raised his knife up near his mouth. "Speaking of which, you know how I got these scars?"
"No. But I know how you got these."
(Y/N) raised his scallop blades and allowed them to fire at the Joker, sending him reeling back. The Joker was suddenly kicked forward and over the ledge. Natasha was there, and just in the nick of time.
She tossed (Y/N) his grapple, and he fired down, out of the window. He caught the Joker's leg, and pulled him slowly back up.
The Joker groaned. "Just couldn't let me go, could you? I guess this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness... and I won't kill you because you're too much fun. We're going to do this forever, aren't we?"
"You're gonna be in a padded cell, forever."
"Maybe we could share it. They'll need to double up, at the rate this city's losing its mind."
"This city just showed that it's full of people ready to believe in good."
A twinkle appeared in the Joker's eye. "Till their spirit breaks completely. Until they find out what I did with the best of them. Until they get a look at the real Harvey Dent, and all the wonderful things he's done. You didn't think I'd risk losing the soul of Gotham in a fistfight with you and that chick back there, huh? You've got to have an ace in the hole. Mine's Harvey."
