Don't Think I Will

"What?! This is just what really good- really good..." I tried to explain but was at a loss for the right words.

This is not what friends do.

But we're not dating so-

What are we?

"Really good what?" Antonio said waiting for me to finish my sentence.

"Yeah, really good what?" Camilo teased.

I swear he's the devil on my shoulder.

Quite literally.

"Um I forgot what I was about to say..." I lied, then I spotted Luisa passing by, "OH MY GOD IT'S LUISA. WE SHOULD TALK TO LUISA!"

Luisa looked at me scared. Sorry Luisa. She kept walking looking back at us occasionally until she was out of view.

"I think you scared her away." Bruno said breaking the silence.

Mirabel walked in along with Pepa and Dolores.

"Good morning guys- um." Mirabel stopped as Camilo flung himself away from me.

"Hey Mirabel." Camilo said his voice sounding weird and awkward, "Oh Mami when did you get here?"

"I came in at the same time as Mirabel. Are you okay?" Pepa said confused at her son's weird behavior.

"Of course I'm fine, well look at the time!" Camilo looked at his wrist that had no watch, "I gotta go bye!" I could actually hear the strain in his voice.

"What... was... that." Mirabel asked me after he left the room.

"Why would I know?" I said shrugging.

"It's way too early for this..." Dolores groaned.

After eating breakfast, without Camilo cause he went god knows where, Mirabel and I went to town just to hang out. We sat down on a curb to rest for a second, then I saw a flash of yellow.

I quickly stood up,

"Mirabel wait here for a second." I said before racing after someone.

"What? Wait!..." Mirabel voice grew distant.

The person turned a corner into an ally, I followed. Then they stopped.

"Camilo what the fuck are you doing?" I asked.

"Nothing just walking..." He trailed off

"Uh huh, yeah that's why you practically ran out of the room when your mom came into the kitchen." I remarked.

"Ok, look, I have a reasonable explanation."

"Yeah yeah, let's hear it."

He paused for a moment thinking of what to say. He nervously shifted his weight from one foot to the other.

"So, my mom can get a little excited when I'm with girls, and I didn't want to her to make it awkward so..." he explained.

"So you made it awkward yourself?" I laughed.

"Well I didn't mean to."

"But you did."

"Yeah... pretty much."

"You're such a dork." I grinned.

"Yeah I know, you say that all the time." Camilo complained.

"With reason too."

"Whatever."

"Come one I left Mirabel somewhere lets go find her."

"Of course you did."

I led him back to where I abandoned Mirabel. Surprisingly she was still there.

"I caught a chameleon." I gestured to Camilo.

"Oh my god, you found him!" Mirabel exclaimed.

"Why do you insist on calling me a chameleon?" Camilo sighed.

"Because I can." I smirked.
