"Y/N... I didn't know you felt that way."

I shrugged.

The there was a knock at the door, my eyes widened as I looked at my uncle.

He got up to get the door and I followed behind him. He gave me a look so I could prepare myself and then opened the door.

"Hey dipshit." My father said to Ben causing him to laugh.

"F/N!" My mom scolded him.

"Oh come on M/N, our kids are mature enough to not care."

"Come in guys." Ben invited my parents in.

My parents finally noticed me behind Ben,

"Y/N!"

My dad engulfed me a hug.

"Hey dad."

My mom walked up and gave me a hug too.

"I trust you've been staying out of trouble." She said.

"Of course, I'd never bother poor Ben." I joked trying to diffuse the tension.

We all got ourselves comfortable on my uncles couch.

"So, how's work been?" My dad asked Ben.

"Ugh, please don't start talking about your jobs it's so boring." I interjected.

"Fine, what have you been doing Y/N?" My dad said.

Damn put the attention on myself.

"I don't know, drawing, reading, doing the work you sent." I said lazily.

"Have you been keeping up?" My mom asked.

"Yeah, but it's actually a lot of work can we tone it down a bit?" I said.

"You can't tone it down a bit in a real job Y/N." My mother responded.

I hate it when she says that. It's just a way for her to completely disregard my feelings.

"So where's the other two?" Ben asked.

"Jayden and Amelia? They're staying at their friends houses."

"Oh." After that a silence ensued.

"So I'm gonna get straight to the point, are you getting a better control of your... gift." My mom asked the last part coming out bitter.

"Um I guess? I haven't really had many problems with it." I paused then added excitedly, "Oh right! I can make crystals again!"

"What?!" Ben exclaimed.

"That's great honey..." My mom said pursing her lips.

Silence filled the house.

"So..." My dad attempted to break the quiet, "How's Bruno?"

The mention of a Madrigal added to the look of displeasure on my mother's face.

"He's still adjusting, I mean it's hard for him because you know, he was living in the walls of a house for ten years." My uncle laughed.

My dad had a panicked look on his face but I couldn't understand why.

"Why was he living in the walls of a house?" My mom asked with her voice strained.

"Oh well he hid from his family for a while cause he had this prophecy where the house broke because of one of his nieces. And it actually happened, cause you know, that's how prophecies work." Ben explained clearly not reading the room.

"The house broke?" My mother said.

"Yeah, there was cracks everywhere, the Madrigals even lost their gifts for a while. Until they rebuilt the house and then poof they were back again."

Goddamnit Ben you oblivious idiot.

"Y/N leave the room." My mom ordered.

"What?" I said in disbelief.

"You heard me."

"But-." I was cut off.

"Y/N you heard me, go."

I reluctantly got up and left, but instead of going up to my room I stopped just outside the room. She never actually said to go to my room, she just said to go out of the room, and I did.

I sat quietly waiting for one of them to speak.

"M/N, it's not that big of a deal." I heard my father say.

"Not a big deal?" My mom snapped, "The miracle literally fell apart and guess who knew that would happen?"

"Well it didn't completely fall apart, and everything is fine now! I mean I see the Madrigals almost everyday and nothing is ever wrong." Ben tried to reason.

"But it did." My mom said firmly believing her point, "Who's to say it won't happen again? Not to mention what if Y/N somehow brings it back with her."

"Brings it back with her?" My uncle said completely lost.

"Honey, we don't know if that true." My father said.

"Of course it's true. Why the hell do you think we have to deal with Y/N having a gift. This so called 'miracle' is a curse!" My mom shouted.

My heart dropped, this isn't going to end well. Poor Ben, he's stuck in there.

"M/N, we can talk about this later." My dad finally said after a pause.

"I don't understand why these people think the Madrigals are so great. They obviously haven't been burdened with a kid who has a gift." The statement broke me.

I'm a burden?

Suddenly I felt the urge to just get up and leave. I didn't even fight it. I just walked straight out the door, ignoring the tears that were flowing down my face.

A/N
