37. Broken Promises

On the other side of the world

Wanda was sitting at the table looking at the butterfly drawing Matteo drew for her. She was in a small little apartment with Vision having time for themselves. But she would always have a wave of grief and sadness wash over her. She missed her baby brother her first small child she ever cared for, her baby Matteo.

She was sitting at the table as tears welded up in her eyes, she soon left out a small sob. Vision looked over and seen her, he soon walked over and put a hand on her shoulder. "Whats the matter darling?" Vision asked as he looked at Wanda with worry. "I-I miss him..I miss my baby.." Wanda chocked out as she soon looked up at Vision. Vision looked at the drawing before he looked at Wanda "He misses you too. But Mr Stark has him isolated. He Won't let me reach him. Nor see him. He wants him to be a normal kid again from what he says." Vision said sadly. Wanda picked up the drawing before she put it back down. "I just want to see him again..he needs me..I need him.." Wanda said before she got up and walked over to the bed. Vision looked down at the drawing before he let out a sigh. Vision wanted to see Matteo but Tony refused him to see him, or even contact him since he needed to be isolated from the fighting and go to school and be normal. But after Vision seen how Wanda was he was going to get to the bottom of getting Matteo to see wand again.

With Matteo

Matteo was sitting in the room alone, Peter was on a small mission. And by that he was out going to Homecoming which Matteo was confused on. All he wanted to do was build more Lego Star Wars things but he had to sit and wait for Peter. As he was drawing and coloring in his small sketch book he seen a small light come from his suitcase. Matteo looked over and tilted his head, he put his sketchbook down on the bed and crawled off from the top bunk and walked over to his suitcase.

"Hm?" Matteo hummed out. He soon opened his suitcase and seen a small burner phone along with the envelope that had the note Wanda wrote him next to it. Matteo seen the phone light on along with it starting to buzz. "H-huh?.." he quietly before he picked up the phone. He soon flipped the phone up and answered it "hello?.." Matteo answered in his American accent. "Matteo? Is that you?" The familiar voice answered. Matteo froze before he looked around the small room trying to figure out what to say. "Y-yes? Who is this?" Matteo answered as he bit the inside of his cheek. "It's me. Vision. Where are you?" Vision asked. "No where. What do you want." Matteo asked in an angry tone. "Wanda misses you. She wants to see you again. And I'm sure you want to see her too. So why don't I come and get you. I promise you'll be with her again." Vision said. "NO!" Matteo blurted out. "Leave me alone! You don't care! Wanda doesn't either! All you guys ever do is lie to me! And break promises! You never came to see me! Tony sent me away! Nat Sam Steve and Everyone left me! And Wanda! She..she..she left me. She sent me away!" Matteo blurted out.

Vision was taken back "Matteo listen to me. Did you ever read Wanda's note? She misses your terribly she wants to be with you again." Vision said. "No she doesn't. You all left me. Don't call again. Leave me alone." Matteo said as he soon hung up the phone. He then ran over to the window and threw the phone outside. He let out a huff before he closed his eyes tightly. Right as he did that he sat down on the ground. He soon looked over at the suitcase again and seen the envelope that Wanda wrote him. He bit the bottom of his lip before he got up and walked over to his suitcase again.

The Maximoff soon picked up the envelope and looked at the writing on it. That said his name on it, he seen how it was well written. He then wondered if Wanda really wrote this or if it was Vision or Tony who wrote it. After everything that's been happening he's been having a lot of trust issues. And the only people that don't break Matteo's promises or haven't lost his trust is May and Peter. So as Matteo was opening up the envelope he took out the papers and started to read it.

Dear Matteo,
I'm so sorry you are alone. I never wanted you to be alone. I wanted you to be with me and forever. But after me seeing you get put through the torture that Ross did to you. It made me realize how I haven't been a good sister to you. I couldn't even protect you, even back at Hydra. And I'm sorry. I just want you to live a normal life and be happy. I have nightmares of what I put you through. From the time when I put your nightmares in your mind, Hydra, Lagos, and even when I thought you where gone. I lost you so many times and I can't bare to losing you. Your my baby boy. My baby guppy. I just want you to be happy. But I cant watch you get put through pain, and your always seem to be in pain with me. So I want you to stay with Tony so he can give you the protection you deserve. I'm sorry. We will see each other again. But not now. Or for a long time. Just know if you ever need me just call on the phone. Or even just tell Vis. He'll be there also. But for now this is a goodbye. I'll find a way to see you again. And even though I can't feel you anymore I just feel you. And I love you, I'll always be with you my baby boy.

Matteo had tears rolling down his cheeks. He soon looked outside where the phone was, he then shook his head and put the papers back in the envelope. He then put the envelope back in his suitcase. "..you still sent me away..I want you here now mama..but you sent me away..I'm lonely.." Matteo said sadly before he wiped his tears away and went to the top of the bed. He soon started to get back to coloring in his drawing he drew.

Back with Wanda and Vision

Vision looked at the burner phone and looked over at Wanda who had her hands over her face. "What did he say?" Wanda asked as she looked down at the ground. "I don't think I should-" Vision started to talk. "No. Tell me.. what did he say Vis.." Wanda said sadly as she looked over at Vision. Vision sighed and put the burner phone down on the table. "He said not to call him again and that you and everyone breaks his promises.. and that all we do is Lie.. and that we all sent him away.." Vision said sadly. Wanda just let out a shaky breath before she closed her eyes. "Can you go see him please..he needs to know that you care.. and that we never meant to send him away..I just need time alone right now.." Wanda stated. "But your upset.." Vision said sadly. "Please.." Wanda said. "Ok..I'll go.. I'll go see him. For you..I'll be back soon darling." Vision stated as he soon went over to wand and kissed her head, then he soon left. Wanda just kept to herself and just sobbed quietly, she never meant for Matteo to be in pain or to be alone. She just wanted to have him be safe. "I'm sorry Matteo..I'm so sorry baby..." Wanda sobbed out. She stayed in bed the whole time and just watched the sitcoms to help her heal along with just remembering the happy times she had with Matteo and Pietro.
