Timekeeper Raymond Leon //"Change" Part 2//

"This is insane...." It's all you can say, he looks out the window with you.

"It's so different from Dayton, you belong here Y/N/N. That's why I want you to listen to me. I can't have you live with me but I can get you more time and send you off to live here. Of course you will need to do some things first." His voice gets serious again as you turn to him, the sun lights up your face and reveals your sparkling E/C eyes and his blue eyes look unreal in the light.

"And what are those things?" You move and sit down on the edge of the bed, he sighs.

"First you need to change your appearance, the other Timekeepers know who belongs and who doesn't, a hair cut and dye job should work, maybe some plastic surgery. Second you need to act like them, don't rush, and third I could never see you again. If I see you they will know I was involved if they find out about where you are from." His voice is back to the stone cold Timekeeper voice but you can tell he is trying to act strong and stern to prevent from making you upset.

"What! You're crazy! Why would I come here and not see you? And why would I want to be anything like these people!?" You say in disbelief, he grabs your hand.

"You said it yourself, I changed. I had to in order to fit in and you have to also. These people can spot an outsider from a mile away. We can't see each other because if they find out I lose my job and get forced back to Dayton." You look at him when he speaks and cross your arms and huff.

"How would I even get enough time to afford to live here?" You are obviously upset with everything, if living here means becoming like Raymond then you don't want to.

"When Timekeepers have to take back time from people who steal it we keep the time locked away, I can access the vault and steal enough for you to get on your feet, they will never know, but that's also why I can't see you again because they will connect the dots."

"I don't want you to lose your job over me! What if they catch you? I'll rather die in my poor dirty old timezone as myself then live in this timezone as a different person. I'm sorry Ray...but I can't accept your offer." Your voice shows a hint of sadness, he looks at you like you have four heads, he is obviously perplexed.

"You are bound to die if you stay where you are! Do you not see that? If you stay you will run out of time or get yourself killed fighting, I don't want you to just be found dead in the back alley somewhere! Please Y/N/N, stay here." He almost pleas, you can't, you won't, what's the point of being in New Greenwich if you can't even see the person you love, the person who you told everything to, the only person ever there for you? You shake your head.

"Ray, please understand I just can't. You changed, you became just as cruel as them and I can't lose myself here. You are my best friend and that's why I need you to see it, if I go back I can still see you, nobody will know anything, you could tell them you need to investigate something." He sits down next to you on the end of the bed, he sighs and you look at him. You called him your best friend because you can't allow yourself to get that close to him, that close to someone who you probably won't see again.

"I can't have you die like that, please." His voice is breaking, he can't keep his cold voice, you hug him.

"I won't die! I'm a professional fighter, you saw the video I'm good!"

"Not good enough. Dayton is the ghetto, it has nothing, you have no future there, but if you want to go back to those people then I can't stop you." His voice is back to being cruel, those people...what did he mean by that?

"What do you mean, ghetto? those people?" You look at him a bit angered, he looks at you like he expects you to know what he is taking about.

"Trash, animals, criminals." He says it like it's nothing, but those "animals" are your friends, the people you grew up with and he did to but apparently escaping to New Greenwich made him forget that. The sun disappears behind the clouds, you two are both still on the bed but everything seems distant.
