"You have no fucking right to say that when you are one of them! Did you forget that or do you really think you were born a rich boy? Because if I remember right we were both begging for time so we can have dinner!" You shout, you can't help it. Raymond doesn't respond, he looks away from you. Your heart aches, this boy who used to actually care for others now only cares about himself and time. Both of you two don't talk, you don't look at each other and the only thing that could even be slightly audible is the wind outside the window. You feel his hand grab yours but it certainly isn't in a friendly manner, he is taking away the year you were given in custody. He leaves you with what you first had, three months. You look at him in shock, he doesn't look at you, he stands up and then takes a device and puts the time from his clock into it giving the year back to return later.
"You aren't in custody anymore, tomorrow I'll tell my superiors after a thorough investigation you aren't guilty and then I'll drive you back to Dayton." He is of course back to his normal Timekeeper voice, it makes you shiver. It's Sunday so he isn't working but as soon as he can tomorrow he will get rid of you like you are just some stranger. You want to go back to Dayton and just forget about Raymond Leon but you know you can never forget him like you did before, and he will never be able to forget you. He closes the curtains with the dark grey curtains and goes towards the white pearly door leading to the other rooms. "I'm going out for a few hours, stay in this building, they'll catch you if you go into the streets alone." He closes the door before you can say something. You can feel tears swell up in your eyes, you don't want to lose him, but you two are entirely different people, you don't even want to leave his bedroom and see what the rest of the apartment looks like, you lay down on the bed, surrounded by the luxury sheets. You grip them hard and look at your arm, you don't have much time left, if you don't go back to your timezone and fight you won't live, but Raymond is right, fighting is risky.
You are clenching the sheets and you scream, "I hate you! You bastard I hate you! I want Raymond back!" You know he probably can't hear you if he is even still at home, tears fall down your cheeks but you aren't going to let yourself sob over him, over someone who is just like a stranger to you. You can't help but think about the bridge, the begging, the memories, as you lay down on the bed you came to the realization that Raymond, well your Raymond doesn't exist anymore but instead a hypocritical, cruel enforcer is the real Raymond, the one that you have to deal with for another day and you'll never see again.
___________________________________It's around nine pm, it's extremely dark except for the light you turn on by the bedside and there is no sign of Raymond since he left. You hasn't left his bedroom, you have just been lying there thinking and occasionally stood up and took a few bites of a plate of snacks you only just noticed around three pm, he must of put it there before you woke up. You get underneath the sheets, still wearing the black t shirt and jeans he let you change into, they smell like his cologne and you hate it, it makes you emotional anytime you think about the smell for to long. You close your eyes, your last night in New Greenwich, thank god. Just as you get comfortable and ready to drift to sleep, the door opens. Your back is facing the door but it's obvious it's Raymond. You can feel yourself either getting mad or sad, but before you can contemplate your exact emotions you feel two arms wrap around you, strong powerful arms that pull you until you can't be pulled anymore closer. Your back is against his chest and his arms keep you there, you can hear his breathing, is he drunk? No he doesn't smell like it.
"I can't fucking forget you. I tried for hours today, pretending you never even existed but I can't. That strange feeling I was feeling earlier was happiness. I have never been truly happy until now." Raymond says in a soft voice, he is almost whispering it in your ear it's so soft. You spend the past hours trying to hate him but you can't, not at all. He will always be that boy your grew up with, no matter how much he changes nothing can take away the memories. You slowly turn and face him, he reaches a hand up to your lips and brushes over them with his thumb. "Please don't be mad at me." As he speaks you stare into his eyes, one of the only things that hasn't changed. He looks at you with a look of true remorse, it's easy to believe that he is sorry.
