"Looks like the spell worked then.."
A forth one popped into view from seemingly nowhere. She had the strongest magic out of all of them, but it still wasn't very strong, just different.
"So why are you guys back here? Did you all get lost on your way home?"
"We um... We're here because w-we..."
The fairy kept stuttering as if trying to see if he should say what was on his mind or not. Luckily though, the one with silver hair and a tall lanky body spoke up instead.
"We're out of towners here for a visit."
That sparked Meliodas's interest.
"Out of towners? Does that mean you aren't demons?"
"That's right caaaaaaaaiid."
It seemed like the man started with calling him one thing but settled on the word "kid". These out of towners had a weird way of talking.
"So... what are you then? And how did you get here?"
"Those are some questions for another time. We actually want to know more about you. Is that okay?"
He liked this one. He was a lot calmer than the others who looked at him just like the maids did. Well, the mage was calm too he supposed, but this one spoke to him instead of at him.
"Sure!"
He didn't mind. Maybe they were here to do research about demons. Normally he'd be more wary, but these guys were so weak he knew even if they were trying something, he could take them down.
"Alright, let's start with your name. What is it?"
"Meliodas! What's yours?"
"Ban. Nice to meet ya Meliodas."
"Likewise!"
"Can I ask another?"
"Yeah go ahead."
"How old are ya?"
"I'm nine."
The others around Ban and the mage all had their eyes bulge at hearing that, but the other two remained neutral. He liked that.
"Alright, now what do you usually do here in the castle? How do you spend your day?"
"I usually play out here in the garden! Or sometimes in my room too. Although there isn't much to do while Esta and Zel work."
"Esta and Zel? Who are they?"
"Um.. Just some people I know."
He didn't want to reveal anything about those two. Mainly because if they were after anyone here, it would be his big brothers. Even if they'd likely be killed instantly by them.
Luckily Ban didn't push that any further.
"Kay, well that's all I need to know. Thanks kid."
"Wait!"
The man had been about to walk away with the others looking confused before the blond proclaimed that word.
"I um.. I want to know more about you guys too! Since I told you so much, can you tell me a little about where you all are from too?"
The man hopped down the little ledge into the garden before patting the child's head.
"We'll be back tomorrow. Then we'll tell ya what you want to know, alright?"
The child smiled brightly and nodded, saying goodbye as the group left soon after before heading back inside. Leaving most of the sins completely baffled.
"What was that Ban!? Why ask those questions!? We already know his name, and his age doesn't exactly matter very much, we should've told him the truth and gotten him out of here!!!!"
Diane was the one berating the man as she briefly injured him with a bonk on the head.
"Look, this needs to take time. We don't know why he was brought here, and he doesn't even remember us! We need to start with the basics, figure out what he think his little life here is, and earn his trust before taking him back home. It's the only way this'll work. Besides, if we kidnapped him he could run back home before Merlin has any chance to reverse the spell she speculated about. Trust me, this is one scenario where my less than awesome childhood comes in handy on how to deal with this. We need to make him trust us."
Ban was surprisingly put together as he spoke. He knew exactly what they needed to do here, and was undoubtedly the one with the best pokerface when hearing shocking new details. The only other good pick would be Merlin, but she needed to gather data on a reversal.
"You better be right Ban, because if we lose our captain? I blame you."
Ahhh this chapter sucked I'm sorry! I'm having a POTS attack and started my time of the month (anyone with female bodies you know what I mean) but I wanted make sure you guys had a chapter, even if it isn't very good. T^T
