He knows, he knows

I searched through my brain for the limited knowledge of the marauders I had.

"Lily will have a fight with Severus and he would call her a mudblood." I said excitedly as I looked at him.

"WHAT!!? That son of a-"

"well its technically Potter's fault because he embarrasses Severus in front of the whole school and hexed him." I said motioning with my hands as if I was gossiping with him.

"I'll kill that brat." he muttered as I just shook my head.

"you won't need to. He won't live long. " I said not registering that I actually said that out loud until I saw the look of horror at Remus's face and covered my mouth with my hands looking to the ground.

It was quiet for a bit as I hoped he did not get what I said. I didn't look at him and silently removed my hand from my face.

I felt his hand on my shoulder as I looked at him.

"Severus... ?" he asked as I shook my head.

"oh no, he's the one who survived." I said and again slammed my hand on my mouth. What is going on? I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that.

I stood up and started pacing around the room as Remus just sat there trying to make sense out of my words. Finally he looked up at me and said in a low whisper, "James? "

I sighed and nodded not removing my hand from my mouth as I didn't trust myself to say anything else.

I stand near the couch as Remus hides his face and soft sobs fill the quiet room. I rush over to him and place my hand on his shoulder as he looked at me.

"why? " he said tears rushing onto his cheeks.

I shake my head and he wipes his tears.

"look Remus, you have to understand. I can't tell you much. It's like a secret that can save many lives. You can't know things that are going to happen and I- I am sorry, I can't tell you." I said as I looked away from him.

It was quiet for a bit before he muttered something and I looked at him quizzically.

"sorry, I didn't quite get that." I said as he repeated himself again.

"I'm a werewolf." his voice was low and just above a whisper but enough to be heard and my eyes widened.

"I know you probably will be scared of me but I want you to know." he said as he looked at me.

"who else knows?" I asked as he looked away from me and focused on the wall in front of us but I could still see the small smile adoring his face.

"Lily and the others. I didn't mean to tell them but they just figured out and decided they were going to help me even if it could be deadly." he said and I frowned.

"how can they help you?" I asked.

"oh, Lily made a few potions to help with the pain and the others decided it was a great idea to turn into illegal animaguses."

"they are animaguses?!" I exclaimed as I stood up and looked at him in shock.

"yeah, funny right. They make fun of the Slytherins annoying them with the pranks but go to any measures to help their friend."

"why are you telling me this?" I said and he looked at me.

"because I want you to know I trust you. I don't know why you are here and what you are supposed to do but if you are going to save him, to save them, I want you to know I am just a call away. I don't think many people know how much the marauders mean to me. They are my family and I can't live without them. They have done a lot for me that I didn't expect anyone to do. I understand why you don't want to tell me but if things go out of hand and you need help just know I will be with you. I don't want to lose them." he said as he smiled at me, a sad smile.

I sat next to him as I patted his shoulder and sighed.

"I will tell you everything I know, if you promise you won't try to change things without asking me" I said as he looked at me curiously and nodded slightly.

"well, it all started with the defeat of Grindelwald."

A/n:- I am really sorry. I said the updates are going to be quicker but they are not getting any better. I just finished my practice exams and am soon having next exams so writing is not much of an option.

A long chapter to fill for the absence. Also thanks to all of the lovely reader reading voting and commenting on my story. It's appreciated and the story is still going to have slow updates but if the chapters are shorter I will be able to publish quickly.
