Chapter XXXI

Another explosion shook the house and the portrait of Sirius‘ mother began to screech deafeningly.

„Okay, that’s enough. I’ll see what they’re doing.“ Penny put the bookmark in her book and closed it before placing it on the coffee table next to her.

„And I take care of the old bat.“, Sirius got up and followed Penny.

Penny reached the second floor where George’s room was and without knocking she stormed through the door.

„What the hell are you doing here?“, the two boys turned around and looked at her as she stood in front of them with her eyes narrowed and her arms crossed in front of her chest.

„Nothing.“, Fred shrugged and hid something behind his back.

Penny raised an eyebrow.

„Nothing? And nothing exploded?“, she looked from George to Fred and slowly walked towards the ginger she called her boyfriend.

„Exactly,“ he smirked and Penny tried to reach the object behind his back, but failed when George wrapped his arms around her hips and pulled her away from his brother before throwing her over his shoulder and running out of the room.

„No. George, let me down,“ she shrieked, struggling to keep her head steady as the younger twin hopped down the stairs with her over his shoulder while Fred hollered in laughter.

„You are completely insane. Has anyone ever told you that?“

Sirius and Remus became aware of her yelling and watched the situation amused from where they‘re stood in the hallway until Penny’s gaze fell on the two.

„And you’re no better!“ she yelled.

„You’re all crazy, I live with a bunch of crazy kids.“, her face turned increasingly red, from the blood that slowly ran into her head and all the screaming.

Meanwhile, the four men could hardly stop laughing and George put Penny on her own feet, where she immediately began to beat him.

„That. Is. Not. Funny,“ she said between each hit and George protected himself with his arms.

„Peppy, sweetheart. Calm down.“, Fred appeared behind her and held her hands.

She turned around and looked at him angrily.

„Show me now, what you’ve done,“ she demanded.

„No can do, love.“, he winked and walked away, leaving her in the hallway.

After several unsuccessful attempts to find out, what the twins were hiding from Penny, the five sat together in the kitchen and had dinner.

„That sucks.“, Sirius huffed as he poked around in his food.

„What exactly?“ asked Remus.

„All this here, nothing happens, we have no idea what is happening outside these walls. The only thing we know is that no one is hurt. I don’t even know what day today is,“ he ranted exaggeratedly.

„It’s April 30th, mate.“, Fred said nonchalantly, to which his girlfriend next to him snickered.

Sirius looked at him.

„Look, another month just went by without anything happening,“ he groaned.

„Sirius, I think we should be glad nothing happens or had happened. And I have the feeling that this calm will soon be over.“ Penny muttered the last part, she could hardly ignore the feeling that for a few days now was brewing in her stomach.
