Chapter XXXI

The boy with the scar turned as if sensing her presence and when his eyes fell on her his face was filled with relief.

She smiled at him and he ran into her arms.

„I missed you so much. I’m sorry,“ Harry said.

„I missed you too. That was incredibly reckless of you. But I’m so glad you’re doing well.“ She let go of him and looked at him intently. „You’re alright, aren’t you? You’re not hurt?“ she searched his head and body for obvious injuries, making him laugh.

„I’m fine Penny.“ he smiled and his grin widened as Sirius appeared behind them, Penny made space and let him take his godson in his arms.

George and Fred stood by their family after refusing to let go of Ginny until someone tapped George’s shoulder.

The younger twin turned and his heart skipped a beat before pounding rapidly in his chest.

„Oh my God..“, he whispered.

„Nah, no need for the formalities.“, The man with the dreads grinned widely and pulled George into a bone crushing hug.

After what felt like an eternity for the both of them, Lee and George were finally back together.

After Harry had updated those present, they now stood in front of the wooden doors to the great hall, ready to enter when Harry gave the signal. And when the time came, the doors opened and the members of the Order entered.

Professor McGonagall attacked Snape and had the Slytherin students lead into the dungeons, as well as evacuate the underage students.

For everyone else who was willing to fight, the battle plan was now in place.

Fred, George, and Penny made their way to their posts to protect the secret passageways, and when they arrived, the sight that greeted them sent goosebumps all over their bodies.

The protective barrier that covered Hogwarts slowly began to break as the three of them stood along a passageway, Penny leaning with her back against the wall while the twins leaned on the balustrade before them and worriedly looked up at the sky.

„You okay, Freddie?“ George asked and the older twin looks at his brother with teary eyes.

„Yeah.“, he nodded.

„Me too.“, George nudged him with his elbow and Penny’s heart broke at the encounter, because the thought that something could happen to one of them was unimaginable.

Both turned and looked at the girl.

„And you?“ they asked in unison and Penny couldn’t help but smile.

She swallowed. „Yeah, me too.“, and nodded.

And then the barrier broke and the castle was overrun by Death Eaters.

Battles broke out, students and teachers dueled Death Eaters, killing curses were thrown, and in a split second the castle was littered with corpses.

Penny looked up where she spotted Sirius and Remus, the two men alone battling what appeared to be at least ten Death Eaters.

Fred saw her gaze. „Go, help them.“, he yelled.

Penny turned around.

„No, we have to stay together. Remember? Only by staying together we can protect each other.“ she called back while stunning a Death Eater.

„It’s okay, just go! I’m not alone. George, go with her, you‘ll be better help up there.“, the older twin said to his girlfriend and brother, the latter nodded reluctantly.

Penny ran to Fred and kissed him, and when she looked up at him, both their eyes were filled with tears.

„This isn’t a goodbye.“, he whispered.

Penny nodded. „Be careful. I love you.“

„You too. I love you.“ and then she disappeared with George.

When Penny and George reached the corridor where Remus and Sirius were, only Sirius was there.

„Where’s Moony?“ Penny asked while observing her surroundings.

„Tonks came and needed help, he went with her,“ he replied, sending another jinx at a Death Eater as a handful of dementors reached the three.

In no time, a magpie, a dog and a dolphin emerged from the ends of their wands and defeated the Dementor’s.

„Good job.“ Sirius looked at the two younger wizards and smiled.

„Fred!“ Percy appeared behind him, along with Harry, Ron and Hermione.

„It’s good you’re here.“ Fred shouted, spotting the group of Death Eaters heading towards them.

Fred’s group began to defend themselves when Pius Thicknesse appeared.

„Hello Minister!“ Percy bellowed, sending a jinx at Thicknesse, who dropped his wand.

„Did I mention I‘m resigning?“, he continued.

„You’re joking Perce!“ Fred shouted, as the Death Eater he was battling collapsed under the weight of three separate Stunning Spells.

Fred looked at Percy with glee.

„You are actually joking… I don’t think I have heard you joke since you were-„
