We sat across from one other, looking out the window.
The interior of the carriage was extremely small, compacting us and causing our feet to be so near to one other.
Silence.
We didn't talk or look at each other, filling awkwardness in the atmosphere.
The route got uneven all of a sudden, resulting in a jarring ride.
Our feet started clashing, making my heel step onto his foot. I widened my eyes and looked at him.
"I'm sorry,"
He gave me an expressionless stare before returning his gaze to the window.
Wow, ok. I thought.
I awkwardly looked back at the window too.
Crash. My heel slammed into his foot once again.
"I'm sorry" This time; I didn't glance at him. Still, there was no response.
What the heck? I don't remember this character being mute or something.
Unexpectedly again, the bump made my heel step onto his foot.
"I'm really so-"
"You're so unsteady on your feet and a pain in the ears," He complained and slightly stepped on my heel to avoid it from bumping.
Offended, I looked at him with a judging look.
"I'm apologising for stepping on your foot, and you're accusing me of being a pain in the ears. Bi— I'm just apologizing? And how can I stop my foot from that ride with these damn heels? Blame the road, you fuc-" I stopped, knowing that I had reached my limit.
I looked away with my eyes rolled but felt guilt afterwards, thinking I said too much at The Crown Prince of Heilan.
"I can't believe I'm getting married with you." He mumbled to himself but said it at high volume so I could hear it.
Again, with my mouth springing open, I looked at him, offended and irritated.
"How come, then, that you accepted my proposal of marriage in the first place? As-" I pressed my lips together, suppressing my dirty language again.
He glanced at me and sarcastically said, "Because I thought the Princess of Heilan had a pleasant personality." He emphasized the word pleasant, in a sarcastic tone.
Irritated by his sarcasm, I decided not to hide my eye roll any longer.
"Who in the world would marry a woman just because he thought she was his standard."
"I, Myself," He responded carelessly, causing me to scoff.
"I will gladly accept and sign the divorce papers as soon as possible," I said.
"Oh well, good luck finding that document," He said, not interested.
"Why? Is it that hard to find it?" I asked.
"Ask your parents about it. Aren't they the ones that forced you in this marriage?" He shrugged.
My jaw dropped, finally knowing the reason why Princess Heora was marrying the second male lead in the first place.
I'm at a loss as to how to respond. For the rest of our journey, I was humbled by those words.
