Chapter 5 - Indifferent Opportunities

Start from the beginning

"Right, sorry."

The pressure on your arms and calves was released, allowing you to stretch and crack your elbows with a loud 'pop!'

"Does this mean that other fictional worlds exist, too?" Golde proposed, "Like, books, and such?"

You shrugged. "I don't see why it'd be specific to only you guys, so... probably, yeah. I think it's like— you're all real in your own sense, right? Like you exist and have a life and all that, but you're fictional to a different world—my world. And maybe others. Who knows? I mean—for all I know, I'm a fictional character to someone else. With how everything's going, I'm most likely part of some low-quality fanfiction on a dead website like Quotev, or whatever."

Golde stared at you like you had begun speaking in tongues.

"...What?"

"Don't worry about it."

The blonde shook his head, clearing his mind. He then leered at you, picking apart every piece of your being as he thought about the situation at hand. There was potentially much at stake here. He didn't know if he fully believed you yet—he certainly didn't trust you—but being who he was, Golde was no stranger to the oddities of supernatural activity. He got that same feeling that he had about Afton when he first saw you, which was his first indicator that you were a danger to the establishment and what led him to sign you up as the night shift. But now... he didn't know what to think. Some people still knew about the franchise's tragic history, but for you to deduct him as Fredbear was something that should've impossible. He had to give credit where credit was due, but you still had a lot to prove to him if he were to take your word for this.

He needed to study you.

"Let's say you're right about this. You're from another universe; what does that mean?" He inquired, tapping the surface of the foldable table in front of him.

Your head shook, wracking your brain for an answer. "Wh— I don't know. How am I supposed to? I was just an average person, and then this happened. It could've been anybody."

He opened his mouth to retort, but snapped it shut with a loud click of his teeth as his mind created more probable scenarios. With you somehow being away from your world and stuck in his, a potential balance could be disrupted. Swapping entire universes was a dangerously unfamiliar act to everyone on earth, and nobody knew what the aftermath would be. You were oh-so blissfully unaware of just what would eventually lie in your wake.

"...Don't clock in tonight," he ordered nonchalantly. "You need to stay away from this place. Got it?"

You huffed, taken aback. The very man who signed you up as the night watch in order to sabotage you was now demanding that you don't come to work?

"You put my signature on the paper," you reminded harshly. "I'm required to come in for six weeks before I'm able to switch positions or quit. I don't have any sick days or paid time off earned. If I ditch my shift, they'll sue me for ignorance of contract agreements and company policies."

Golde's chest rumbled with frustration. He had forgotten about that part, but it was a far more manageable concomitant than what else could happen if you didn't make it out alive.

"I don't care," he protested, "it's way too risky."

You persisted, "I know how everything works. I know how to survive the nights. Why are you switching up on me all of the sudden? Didn't you want me dead?"
