Lily had to shut off her phone when Josh had found out that she knew about him and Jessica. She really didn't want to bother speaking to him or even making up with him. In all honesty, she didn't even have any plan in place about what she wanted to do about it or even say to him. She just continued to go about her day with the continuous calls and texts from Josh.
Lily decided to walk downstairs for the first time during the day. It was already 12pm. She walked down the stairs to see Lexi and her mother watching the TV. She smiled at both of them and sat down with them.
'Girls' Suze spoke up, 'What's wrong with your sister?'
'What do you mean?' Lexi asked as she had her eyes glued to her phone
'I saw her screaming at someone on the phone' Suze added, 'I know it's Christopher but I didn't know they were going through another rough patch'
'They always are' Lily corrected, 'They have more bad times than good'
Suze shrugged at the thought and Lexi couldn't help but agree with her sister. However, they did not know that Cassie was only a foot away when she decided to confront her family.
'Mckay is not a bad guy' Cassie came into their vision with confidence
'Well he's not a good guy' Lexi corrected
'He treats me really well and you guys just don't see that side of him' Cassie hissed back, 'And Lily you have no right to talk about my boyfriend'
Lily sat there in shock and managed to say, 'He's always mean to me and Lexi. He doesn't even bother to speak to us'
'Because you guys think you're better than everyone else' Cassie snapped back, 'You're both fucking bitches'
'Hey' Suze cut her off with a stern tone, 'Stop it'
'They always start fights about this' Cassie complained, 'So they can sit there and talk about my life, but I can't comment on theirs?'
'We are not dating assholes' Lexi corrected once again with a harsher tone
'Yeah you guys haven't even kissed anyone' Cassie hissed back
'Enough' Suze added, 'Go to your room'
Cassie scoffed loudly. Before, she turned around to their shared room, Cassie gave Lily a look that could kill her without physically moving. She made her way upstairs and Lily knew that she had to keep her distance away from tonight.
'I told you something is going on' Suze huffed, 'Jesus christ...'
A MONTH LATER
Lily and Lexi were contemplating if they wanted to go to Mckay's New Years party. Cassie and the girls had 'made up' after their constant fights over Cassie's choices. They all knew they would make up and forget about it. They were family and they also lived in the same bedroom. Cassie couldn't be mad at them forever.
'You guys should just come' Cassie pleaded, 'He wants to start making an effort with you guys'
Lily and Lexi knew this was a plain lie.
After the argument, Cassie had cried and screamed at them for another hour about how much she truly loved Mckay. It got to the point where Lily could count every tear or vein that would pop out of her sister's eyes and head. That same night, Mckay had picked her up and she stayed at his house for over a week. Even though Lily hated the circumstances in which her sister left the house, a part of her also loved it. She loved the quietness and silence that filled the halls of their home. There were no fights about Mckay. Now there were only compliments and begging on Cassie's part.
The whole 'effort' thing on Mckay's part was a complete lie and bullshit. He obviously convinced Cassie that her sisters were the bad guys and clearly wanted to make himself look better. Lily knew he wanted to play 'superman' or let Cassie continue her 'victim' narrative until she dropped dead.
'We are coming' Lexi added
Lily looked over to her sister and said, 'Who's we?'
'Come on' Lexi was now begging, 'It will be fun'
'Josh and Jess are not invited' Cassie added sternly, 'I made sure Mckay didn't invite them'
That was another thing Lily had been avoiding. She hadn't spoken to Josh in over a month and she ignored all of his 50+ calls and messages. However, he didn't seem to care anymore as Jessica was officially his girlfriend. The thought of seeing them together kind of made Lily sick, but it also made her feel relieved. She really dodged a bullet.
'Yeah..' Lily trailed on, 'But everyone will be there. I would expect Josh and Jessica to come'
'I've told Mckay about it' Cassie said again, 'You don't need to worry'
Lily was even more worried now that it was in Mckay's hands.
