Chapter 4: Manifest

Jaune wanted to create a simple shape; a circle. It took him a moment to stabilize the shape as maintaining a solid shape with his aura was harder than he thought, if he hadn't mastered Aura Enhancement it would've taken him several hours to even create a proper shape. The amount of aura and control someone needs is montrous, someone with a small aura reserve and control over their own aura wouldn't even manage to last long. That's how hard Aura Manifestation is.

Jaune took a deep breath before resuming his training. It took him several minutes to create a few basic shapes. The last shape he created was a triangle; he read in the book that by using Aura Manifestation one can detach their aura from their bodies, using it on a multitude of things from afar. After creating the triangle, he spun it around his palm, creating a miniature golden drill. Once it's spinning reached the maximum, he shot it out of his palm directly at a grimm that dared to approach them. The aura drill easily tore through the grimm and hitting several more trees before dissipating into golden particles.

Gawain who saw the power of Jaune's aura drill was surprised. He didn't attack the grimm as Jaune signaled him to not moved. Once he felt the power stored inside the drill, he instantly knew that if it wasn't for his nature of being a servant.. that he would die the moment he decided to take on something like that. Even with his B+ rank Endurance, he knew that he wouldn't leave unscathed. He only hoped that Jaune could properly control this type of power as his enhancement alone is enough for him to reach the pinnacle of this world.

"Hahahahaha.." Jaune happily laughed. This is only the beginning stages of Aura Manifestation and its already so powerful. If he could completely master Aura Manifestation and then add on Aura Enhancement, he genuinely felt excited at what level of power he could achieve.

-Timeskip 3 Years Later-

The fourteen year old Jaune was wearing a dusty white cloak that completely covered his head and body.

After a year of travelling, he started to send letters to his family. He did this by applying his Aura Enhancement and Aura Manifestation to create an eagle made out of the most radiant gold aura he could manifest, he even added the arc family crest to its chest to imply that it's one of theirs. They were shocked at first when they found the golden eagle and even more so when they saw that it was carrying a letter. They were shocked to see a magnificent bird such as this was only used as a messenger bird. If only they knew that this was only a construct. But they were ecstatic once they found out the letter it was carrying was from Jaune. They were happy to receive letters from their only son, and in return they sent their own as well.

Jaune was happy to trade stories with his family, he even introduced Gawain.. as a wandering huntsman he met by luck and that he was the one who thought him swordsmanship. Jonathan who read the letter although happy that Jaune was improving was still dissapointed that he quickly gave up on his son instead of training and teaching him properly.

Their exchange of letters happened for several weeks, with Jaune finding out that his mother and sisters still worried for him and he better be prepared to get a proper beating once he gets home.
Jaune only let out a sheepish smile while rubbing his neck.

But he was horrified when he recieved their last letter. Once he read the letter, he found out that a huge gathering of grimm has appeared near their borders. Jonathan said not to worry and that they were requesting for hunstmen from Vale but the council was still processing their request. Jaune didn't want to leave anything to chance and didn't even hesitate to send Gawain to protect his family. Gawain at first hesitated but knowing that it involves his master's family, he immediately set off to do what he was ordered to.

Jaune would've gone himself but knew that if he came back to his family, he would never want to leave. So he sent Gawain to them, he even informed his parents that his teacher is willing to help them and if they could provide him some food and lodging, he would greatly appreciate it as Gawain didn't need any money as long as he could have a roof above his head. He explained that his teacher was already willing to settle down before they met. His parents were ecstatic to have another huntsman to help them and one that was willing to stay without pay, they were also curious about the man that thought their son how to fight and survive. His parents were even willing to let Gawain stay with them as long as he behaved and provided help. Jaune promised them that Gawain would be no problem as Jaune knew that in Gawain's legend he was stated to be the perfect knight. He even stated that he is strong enough to combat even an army of grimm all by himself.

It had been two years since Jaune had sent Gawain to the Arc family. Just as Jaune said, Gawain was strong enough to defeat every grimm that got in the way of his blade. The people in Ansel, Jaune's hometown was surprised to see a cloaked figure decimating the grimm like they were insects to him. None were more shocked than Jaune's family, they read in Jaune's letters that the one who trained him was extremely powerful.. but they weren't expecting this powerful. They saw him burn down more than a hundred grimm with a single swing of his sword, they believed that it was his semblance. They sighed in relief that someone so strong was on their side and was someone that Jaune unconditionally trusted. Ever since then, Gawain had been living on Ansel with his family, providing help wherever he could.

At some point, the council of Vale sent out huntsmen to find out anything about this cloaked warrior, they were afraid of someone holding so much power with their own hands and the council were hoping to control them. But alas they couldn't find anything and all of the spies returned empty handed.

Gawain informed Jaune about the information gathering that was happening in Ansel and Jaune gave him an order to eliminate any who would harm his family. Gawain who already spent several days with the family already came to love them as his own and was happy to oblige to Jaune's order.

Jaune knew that his sisters reminded Gawain of his own siblings that he lost a long time ago, and was genuinely happy for the knight.

Now as Jaune continued to use the Fate system, his required kill count has been returned to the original count which was 100 kills. After three years of continued killing, Jaune only managed to complete 24 kill counts. Jaune even learned that he could store his obtained Fate cards to use whenever he liked, and Jaune has never used one since his last reward which was [Flucticulus Diana] leaving him with a total of 24 Fate cards.

As Jaune was left in his thoughts, about 37 grimm surrounded him. Seeing this, Jaune let out a soft smile.. as he knew that there is nothing on this world that could threaten him. He even asked Ananke that question and her answer was:

[The only one's who could threaten Jaune were the brother gods but they already left this world a long time ago.]

Jaune wasn't surprised by this revelation, as he knew that divine beings already existed as it was one of them that gifted him Ananke. He tried to obtain any information about this divinity to give him some offerings but Ananke wouldn't give him any, stating that the divinity was already happy to see Jaune improving greatly.

Jaune left it at that and focused on only getting stronger.

As Jaune was done reminiscing, he took out Caliburn, before dashing to the nearest grimm.
