"He could die."
That made her freeze. "What?"
"You heard me, Amelie. I honestly don't know what you thought would be happening to him. This is why I need your word. Your protection is all he's gonna need."
Refilling her lungs with the air she so desperately needs, she closed her eyes. Her head fell into a nod. "Okay, Okay, I'll do it."
She looked back at the woman and she was gone, like she was never there. Amelie rubbed her eyes harshly, and lied back down. She would handle this tomorrow.
That was a lie. Amelie wouldn't handle this, she couldn't. Just like she told Claudia, Amelie Nightly could barely handle herself. After getting dressed for school, she grabbed her backpack and got in her car. This reminded her of her journal that she left back at school the day of the raven attack, making a mental note to get to class early to retrieve it.
That journal held everything since her father passed. From her extreme anxiety to depression to hallucinations. If someone were to find it before her and read it, she would be done for. As soon as she reached school, she rushed to her english class, only to find the class occupied with the supernatural gang, and Miss Blake no where to be found.
"Uh, hi," Amelie greeted them with an awkward smile. "I'm just here to grab something."
Lydia, Allison, Scott, Stiles and Derek all stood together, their eyes all on Amelie to which she shrunk from. Her eyes darted to the floor before heading to the teacher's desk. She immediately spotted her maroon journal on top, which she grabbed and started heading out the door.
"—Let's see if Amelie can see it," Lydia said condescendingly to Derek. "Amelie, hey, do you see this?"
Allison and Lydia both held up their forearms together, bruised to a pulp. The Nightly girl furrowed her brows and sighed. She nodded, before looking at Derek.
"They're identical."
Allison let out a "Aha!" before smiling gratefully to Amelie. Derek sighed loudly before looking at Scott, who pursed his lips.
"They're just trying to help," he defended the girls.
"These two?" Derek scoffed, before looking at the strawberry blonde, "This one, who used me to resurrect my psychotic uncle—Thank you, by the way."
Lydia rolled her eyes, and the alpha turned to the huntress next to her. "And this one, who shot about thirty arrows into me and my pack?"
A sigh echoed from beside her "Okay, all right, now, come on... No one died, all right?" Stiles tried to lighten up the mood, to which Derek scowled at. "Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay? A little mangling, but not death! And that's what I call an important distinction."
"My mother died," Allison said quietly.
"Your family's little honor code killed your mother, not me," Derek scoffed again.
"That girl was looking for Scott. I'm here to help him, not you," retorted the huntress.
"You wanna help?" Derek raised his eyebrows, "Find something real."
After that interesting interaction, Amelie left the classroom and headed to her actual first lesson of the day, economics.
It was going to be a long day.
🥰
After a long and excruciating economics lesson with Coach Finstock and an unsettling conversation with his father, Stiles was tired. Tired of school, tired of the supernatural, of everything. He was especially tired of being so suspicious of everyone, with Amelie fucking Nightly on top of his list right now.
