Chapter 49

Bang

"They're getting through!" Miranda shouted before strengthening the wards once more with the help of the warriors. 

We're running out of time

I turned back to Jacob. "What I'm trying to say is," I took a step closer to him and took in a sharp intake of his scent. "I am so damn lucky, you came into my life," I whispered and a small smile made its way to his face. His smile was so contagious that one made its way to my face too. 

Bang

Before he could pull away, I placed my hand on his neck, pulling him in so that our foreheads were connecting. And it felt like time just slowed down and it was just the two of us. the chaos in the background drowned out and suddenly there was silence. Just me and him, not having a care in the world. Not paying attention to the outside world. And before I knew it I said...

"I love you, Jacob," and then I kissed him. I kissed him like it was the last time I would ever kiss him. To love him and hold him. I kissed him like I was saying goodbye to him. He started to wrap his arms around my waist but I couldn't let that happen, I could allow myself to be swept up in this beautiful moment because I wouldn't want to leave. I wouldn't be able to fight. So after one last kiss, I pulled away from him and turned away without saying anything. Without a moment's thought, I ran to the wards. 

"Wait," I heard Jacob say after I created some distance between us, and that pushed me to run faster. Just as I approach the wards, I pulled out my sword and went through the small opening that Miranda created. 

I fought every creature that was blocking my path to Iron Fist. I knew they would only come back to life after I killed them but that would take a while and it would buy me enough time to get to him.

'What are you doing?" I heard Jacob say through our link

"Isn't it obvious? I protect you and the pack," I replied by saying as I killed another creature in my way. 

"Ellie, you don't know what your up against. Get back behind the wards," he said. 

"You know I can't do that," 

"For goddess' sake Ellie, you can't just tell me you love me and then go head first into danger!"

"I'm a warrior of this pack Jacob. It's what I do. I know it's unfair but that's just the way it is. The pack doesn't stand a chance against this. I at least have a fighting chance. You have to let me do this,"

"You can't -- you can't do this to me again," his voice started to crack. "I can't lose you," he added. 

I dodged an attack by one of the creatures before killing it and 2 two others before turning around to face Jacob behind the wards. 

"I can't lose you, Ellie,"  Just by the sound of his voice breaking, I just wanna run back into his arms once more. To be held by him again. To be with him. I could see the worry in his ocean blue eyes, the desperateness of wanting me to come back safely. 

But I couldn't. Not yet

"You could never lose me,"  Was the last thing I said before cutting off the connection between us and continuing my mission. Iron Fist. 

Third Person P.O.V

After one last battle cry, Ellie finally made it to Iron Fist. He was impressed by her strength, style of fighting, and determination to end him and protect her pack. He finally met his worthy opponent. 

"We meet again," he said to her and his smile reached his dark eyes. She held onto her sword tighter.

"Yeah and this time I'm making sure your 6 feet under," she lunged at him with her sword. she moved so fast that he almost did move away in time. "You won't be so lucky," by using his dark magic, a sword suddenly appeared and the battle was on.
