When I Met You

Chapter 8

Lauren secretly rolled her eyes. Who gives a damn about how he feels?

Dashon closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Can I um... can I at least talk to my daughters officer? Respectfully, I can't do that with y'all in the house." He spoke. The officer nodded.

"No officer! He's trying to trick youuuu! His plan is to run off with them!" Lauren exaggerated. Dashon made a frown. Why is she doing this right now? "Now Lauren you know I would never. Why are you doing this to me!?" He questioned.

Lauren was about to say something else until the officer cut her off. "Ma'am , I am sure he wouldn't do such a thing. He seems like a loving and protective father and I respect that. So go on and talk to your kids." Said the officer.

"Thank you." Dashon said.

"Of course man. Just let us in when you are through so she can pack their things." The officer let him know. Dashon nodded quickly going into the house.

He opened his daughters room door and shut it. His daughters could see that something was wrong with their father.

"Dad are you ok?" Bri asked him. "I'm so sorry guys... I really am." Dashon apologized. "Sorry for what dad? You haven't did anything." Ari corrected him.

"Right and what's going on? Why are the police out there?" Bri questioned. Shon sighed and scooped himself down to their level.

"Well.... Your mama called them on me so I can give you two up." He admitted. "What do you mean give us up?" Ari wondered.

"You will be staying with your mama's new boyfriend and girlfriend. I don't want y'all living there so that's why she called the police on me. Now I have no other choice but to let y'all go and... I really don't wanna do that. But if I don't I could go to jail and that would make me look like a bad father." He explained.

"But you are our dad. You should have a say so!" Bri sounded angry. "I know sweetheart but unfortunately, that's how the law works..."

"So how does she have a girlfriend AND boyfriend?" Ari's curious little mind wondered.

"I'll explain it when you're older." Dashon told her.

She nodded.

"I want y'all to listen to me... okay?" They both nodded. "If that man or woman says anything or do anything mean to you, yall let me know. I don't care what they tell you is going to happen if you tell, let. Me. Know. Okay? That's all I ask."

"We will." Bri assured him. Ari started crying. Dashon hugged the both of them and wiped Ari's tears.

"I don't wanna go..." Ari whined. "I don't want y'all to go either but I have no proof of yall being in harms way so sadly daddy has to let you go."He heartbrokenly told them.

"Will we at least get to see you?" Bri wondered. "I wish I could say yes sweetie but.... All of that is up to your mama." He answered truthfully.

He shared a sad father and daughter moment with them for a few minutes before going outside and handed them over to Lauren. Once Lauren left with her kids the police decided he wanted to give Shon a little bit of advice.

"No disrespect but why haven't you left yet?" Dashon wondered. "I want to give you some advice." The officer told him. "On what?" "Your situation." Dashon raised a brow. "Okay?"

"Look man I know that you are worried about your daughters but being worried isn't going to help anything. I advise you to get a divorce ASAP and set up some visitation rights. You have to take action man." Said the officer.

"Visitation rights ain't gone help." "Oh trust me, they will. As long as you can provide for your daughters finically and you're capable of taking care of and watching them then she can't keep you away from your kids. If she does, she goes to  jail." The officer explained.
