Chapter 12: Reality Gone Haywire

"Technology is complicated" you say making Jane nod her head slightly.

"Why are you calling me?" Jane asks turning to Darcy.

"I didn't wanna shout, Intern says it's this way" Darcy explains as she walks over hanging up the phone.

"Ian, my names Ian" Ian grumbled as the 4 of you walk towards one of the abandoned buildings.

As you walk through the abandoned building pigeons flying off suddenly making all of you jump. Especially when you hear the sound of someone running.

"I am not getting shot in the name of science" Darcy mumbled before holding her hands up.

"Its okay we're Americans" she shouts.

Three kids then appear out of their hiding spots making all of you sigh in relief.

"Oh they're kids" Jane sighs.

"Are you the police?" The little girl asks.

"No we're scientists, well I am" Jane explains, Darcy grumbling beside her.

"We just found it" one of the boys says making you furrow your brows in confusion.

"Can you show us?" You ask looking at the three kids.

The three kids glance around at each other before nodding their heads and leading you further into the building. They lead you into a room with a glass ceiling, another truck in the centre.

One of the kids walks over to it, putting just two fingers underneath the front bumper. You watch in complete shock as the truck begins to lift up and float. No longer affected by gravity.

"What the hell" you mutter under your breath.

"That doesn't seem right" Darcy says as you all watch the truck slowly turn in mid-air.

"Come on there's more" the girl says leading you up some stairs.

Once you were nearly at the stop of the stairs one of the boys drops a bottle down the middle. You watch as it falls past you but then completely disappear.

"Where'd it go?" Jane asks and the girl points upwards.

You all look up and a few moments later the bottle reappears above you and continues to fall again. It disappears again only to reappear above you again, creating a perfect loop until one of the kids grabs the bottle.

"That's incredible" Jane says shaking her head in disbelief.

"It's like someone or something is messing with reality" you mutter as Jane grabs a discarded can.

She drops it and you watch it disappeared like the bottle, only this time it doesn't reappear above you.

"What happened?" Jane asks looking up confused.

"Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't" the little girl explains shrugging her shoulders.

"I wanna throw something! Jane give me your shoe" Darcy says but Jane ignores her looking instead at her equipment.

"I haven't seen readings like this since... since..." Jane says trailing off.

"Since what?" You ask.

"Since your brother" Darcy smirks.

Jane shakes her head slightly before running off "don't touch anything"

The kids take you to another place where you could drop stuff and have it reappear. You watch as they all giggle throwing stuff in and watching it disappeared. You couldn't help but smile as you watched them, it was pretty cool after all. It only went wrong when Ian decided to throw the car keys in, which were the one thing that didn't reappear.

"Should we check on Jane?" You ask glancing around.

"Nah when she's like this it's better to leave her to it" Darcy says waving it off.

Some more time passed and Jane still hadn't returned. You had a bad feeling in your gut.

"Something's not right, we need to find Jane" you say glancing around.

Darcy looks over at you and you could see she too was starting to get nervous about Jane's whereabouts. You all start looking around the warehouse, splitting up in a hope of finding her sooner. Hours passed and you had searched the entire area with no sign of her. Darcy eventually calling the cops.

The two of you were talking to one of the cops when Jane suddenly appeared walking out of the building. Darcy runs over to her while you stay with the police officer informing them that Jane had just returned. You thank them for their help as the heavens open and torrential rain begins to fall.

You run over to Jane hearing her complain to Darcy that you had called the cops.

"Jane! You were gone for five hours!" Darcy exclaims making Jane stop.

"What?" She asks confused glancing over at you, you nod you head confirming what Darcy had said.

You then all look over at each other confused as despite the torrential rain none of you were getting wet. Looking around you notice a perfect circle around you of dry ground.

"That's weird" Darcy says.

As you look up you spot the reason why, tapping Jane on the shoulder you point over. Just meters away was Thor stood watching the three of you. Jane quickly walks over to him, the invisible force field following her over leaving the rain to fall on you and Darcy.

"Can't you stop this? With your powers" Darcy asks hunched over slightly.

"Not when it's controlled by him" you grumble looking over at your brother.

You watch as Jane greets Thor with a slap across the face. Not once but twice. You wince slightly but you kinda understood why she did it.

Darcy then runs over interrupting the two of them. You following after her.

"Hey is this you?" Darcy asks.

Thor glances up at the sky before making the rain completely stop.

"Uh, we're kind of in the middle of something here" Jane says.

Thor then smiles over at you walking over and giving you a tight hug.

"Sister it is good to see you again" he chuckles.

"Good to see you too brother" you smile.

"Um sorry but I'm pretty sure we are getting arrested" Darcy says nodding over to the police.

"Hold that thought" Jane says before running off towards the police.

"Look at you still all muscly and everything, how space?" She asks poking at his armour.

"Space is fine" he chuckles "how's earth you been keeping it safe" he asks turning to you.

"As best as I can" you smirk shrugging your shoulders.

Suddenly a large explosion of red energy occurs making you all duck for cover. You see all the police cars with their windows smashed and everyone lying on the floor.

You and Thor run over to Jane who was lying on her back.

"Jane, are you alright?" Thor asks as he helps her sit up.

"What just happened?" She asks as she stand up.

"Place your hands on your head and step back" one of the police officers demands.

"Thor look" you say noticing the odd veins in Jane's arm.

"This woman is unwell" Thor says to the police officer.

"She is dangerous" the officer retorts.

"So am I" Thor warns glaring at the officer.

You glance up at Thor having a silent conversation with him before he tells Jane to hold on tight, wrapping his arms around her.

Suddenly the three of you were transported back to Asgard. Landing in the now fully repaired Bifrost.

"Welcome home sister" Thor smiles.

"Welcome to Asgard" Heimdall says turning to Jane.
