The swirling feeling finally stopped and we stood in the fireplace that was in the office of the shop. It felt more homely and warm compared to the hospital.
"Welcome home James and Oliver." Fred whispered to both babies with a smile plastered across his face.
"Welcome home." I repeated, giving Fred a light kiss on the cheek.
"What are we waiting for. I'm sure George and Lee are waiting for us." Fred chuckled to himself, taking my hand and leading me towards the door of the office.
The shop was just as clean as it was before I gave birth, if anything it might have been more clean that it was before. Perhaps George and Lee wanted to clean it for the babies arrival. We walked up the stairs towards the flat. It's the fastest I've gotten up the stairs for a good four months.
"Ready?" Fred asked with a warm smile, placing his key into the door.
"As I'll ever be." I replied.
Fred turned the key, making the familiar unlocking sound. The door swung open and I was met with a sight I've never been before. In the living room was a large banner across the walls, with George and Lee standing each side with smiled wiped across both their faces. I looked up to see what the banner had read.
Welcome home James and Oliver!
"You two are crazy!" I squealed at the two, a light laugh escaping my lips.
"Only the best for our nephews." Lee exclaimed, rushing over to us to gush over the two babies who were peacefully sleeping in their carriers.
"What about us?" Fred asked. "Are we not welcome home?"
"Nope." George quipped, strongly pronouncing the 'P'.
"Thank you." I said sarcastically to the two. "If we're not welcome then we'll go somewhere else. With our babies."
"Okay okay! You can both stay!" Said Lee quietly, taking James' carrier off me. "Can I hold him?"
"Go wash your hands and then you can." I said to Lee, who bounded off happily to the kitchen. "You can hold Oliver, if you wash your hands George." I added, George following Lee to the kitchen.
"They get to hold them before us?" Fred whispered into my ear.
"We've had them for the past couple of days. Let George and Lee have a turn." I replied.
"Okay fine." Fred sighed as both George and Lee came back, placing themselves on the sofa.
I gently took a sleeping James from his carrier, holding him gently in my arms. Fred had done to the same to Oliver. I slowly gave James to Lee and moved his hands to the correct place. I watched as both George and Lee gushing over the babies in their hands, looking at their perfect little faces with large smiles on their face.
"Their so cute!" Lee softly said, moving his thumb across James' hair.
"Thank you Lee." I smiled at the sight of George and Lee already being great uncles to the twins.
"You two will be great uncles." Fred said as if he had just read my mind
"Who will be better?" George asked competitively.
"We're not having this conversation now, especially in front of the twins." I huffed with a slight giggle in my voice.
"Oh come on! Just because your parents now doesn't mean you can't have fun!" Lee groaned.
"Yes we can. But we've heard this debate for eight months. I really don't need to hear it again. Let's say you two will be equally good uncles. And that's the end of this debate." I rambled and it looked like for once, I actually talked some sense into George and Lee.
"Okay, I agree." George said.
"I agree too." Lee added after his boyfriend.
"Good, now can we have our babies back so we can get them ready for bed?" Fred asked.
George and Lee reluctantly handed over the twins into mine and Fred's arms. We said our good nights to George and Lee, leaving them to clean up the mess they had made. Me and Fred walked into the bedroom, whilst I was changing their nappies Fred was getting a pair of pyjamas for each baby. I quickly changed them and swaddled them in a light blanket. I smiled at the sight of them, I whipped out my Polaroid camera and took a photo of the two laying next to each other.
"You lay in bed. I'll get George or Lee to come on and take a picture of the four of us." Fred said, running out of the room and coming back a minute later with Lee tailing him.
Fred and I sat in our bed. Oliver was in my hands and James was in Fred's. Lee happily took a picture of us which turned out beautiful and I loved it. I gently laid Oliver and then James into a twin bassinet, I watched the two sleep peacefully in there.
"Come on love, let's go to bed." Fred said, pulling me into a laying position.
Fred wrapped his long arms around me, pulling me close to him. It felt nice to have to have Fred's arms stretch around my bump.
"Goodnight Y/n." Fred whispered into my ear.
"Goodnight Freddie, I love you." I replied happily.
"I love you two."
I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep, until the sound of screaming babies woke me at a hour later.
A/n: Happy Sunday! I hope you've all had a great week! I had some training yesterday which was quite boring but it was for something I volunteer for. I'm sorry I didn't publish last week, I was away on holiday in Devon which was very fun and relaxing. I hope the new change in publishing is okay, at least until this story ends. Have a great day :)
