"I appreciate it but I just don't want to do that right now, but thank you Y/N" He scribbles something in the note book, you are disappointed but you now know something is on his mind, these dream concepts are eating away at him.
"Alright, well at least let me iron your shirt it's winkled." You say calmly, Robert turns around in his desk chair and smiles very quickly. It's makes you smile seeing him smile, it's been a while.
"You are the only person I know who willingly wants to work." His eyes dart back to his book, he seems to be deciding if he is at a place to take a break. "Let me put something else on, just a minute." He gets up and walks to his cluttered massive closet. You wait by his desk, as you wait you read over his notes. "Extractors can find secrets and plans hidden within other people's dreams; people hire these dream thiefs to get information on others; extraction. You are a bit confused, this seems like some si-fi thing but his notes make it sound real. You keep reading, very interesting but also sadden, he is so obsessed with this idea his notes show how much it's eating away at him. You start to read again but then you are interrupted.
"How much did you read?" It's Robert, he sounds pissed.
"Not much! I was just curious I'm sorry!" You panic, he quickly walks over and closes his notebook and book. He hands you his clothes and you take them, nervous.
"You are a maid, just do what I'm paying you for." Robert glares
"I know I apologize Mr Fischer." You walk out of the room with his wrinkled clothes. That smile earlier convinced you that maybe he was getting better, but he almost snapped at you, he has never talked to you like that even when he was bratty. This inception concept is making him lose his mind, but there is nothing you can do. He's right, you're just his maid you have no say in what he does and how to help him. You sigh as you put his clothes in the washing machine, "I'll just do what he's paying me for."
____________________________________You walk up the same spiral staircase you did earlier, his clean, ironed clothes in your hands. You walk down the hallway, but since it is late the hallway is dark, you flick on a light and make your way to his bedroom door, you get ready to knock but you see a yellow sticky note on the door, it's one of your notes you gave him but it's crossed out and underneath it says, "I'm sorry about earlier, meet me on the third floor balcony I need to talk to you about what you saw." You are a bit surprised, he made it clear earlier you were just a maid, but now he seems to want to take back what he said. You place down his clothes by the door and make your way to the third floor, you go up the same spiral stair case and go to the door leading to the balcony. You see him through the glass door, he is leaning against the gate around the balcony his notebook in his hand. You open the glass door and he turns around.
"I didn't think you were going to show up after I yelled at you." He says as the moonlight illuminates him, making his black hair glisten. He looks really attractive but he's your boss so you keep that thought locked away.
"You're stressed out, I can tell. I forgive you." You walk further out to the balcony by him. He looks at you, he's wearing a white dress shirt and black pants. "So what's up?" You ask as you look at him then at the night sky, it's so beautiful today.
"You're right I am very stressed out, your understanding means a lot. I want to discuss what you saw in my notes today. You're the only person I really have in my life to talk to about this and maybe I'll feel better if I share what I am doing." You lean against the balcony's edge and listen to him. You could use some clarity on all that dream stuff. Robert tells you about how he feels like someone or many people made him dissolve his dad's company in his dreams by using a method opposite to the extraction method you read about, inception. He tells you how he thinks they planted an idea in his head and he acted on it and how everyday it's eating him on the inside that he might not even be right about all of this and might just be crazy because he can't remember the dreams in which this inception occurred. He dissolved his dad's company over a year ago but the thought of inception only recently came to him. An owl hoots in the distance and you take it all in. He looks so desperate for someone to tell him he is not crazy, and you don't think he is. Not at all. It makes sense. Robert had the opportunity to inherit a huge energy company but maybe a rival didn't want this company to continue and they only way to do so would be to manipulate and essentially mentally destroy the company's young predecessor. "You don't think I'm insane right" Robert voice sounds so weak, "I hate talking about this, it hurts." You feel so bad, you can't even imagine what his mind must be like.
