"Why did you save me?" he muttered.
"Because. . . for a second, I saw myself in you. I'm not sure why, it just suddenly came, maybe it was because I had gone to a similar phrase in the Pumpkin Patch. But just because I hate you, it doesn't mean I don't care. I do. Of course, I would. Why wouldn't I?" Y/N admitted the words slowly, carefully choosing her words in an attempt to stop any waterworks from both of them.
There was a comfortable silence as she said those words, and the two savored the moment despite how hard their head screamed not to.
"Thank you," he mumbled, hand reaching behind her head before placing a kiss on her temple. Her eyes fluttered close and an indiscernible smile crept on her face as she leaned toward him, hands reaching his wrist.
Then they pulled away, cheeks brighter than before. Shyly, the two turned away.
"So. . ." she cleared her throat. "where are you suppose to be?"
His mood dropped. "Lunch," he scowled, clearly irritated.
And Y/N knew why. "If this is about Sophie-"
"Don't."
"If it's about-"
He stood from his spot, sending her a glare before stomping out, but Y/N reached for his hand before he could escape.
"Running away from the situation won't fix anything," she scolded. "Whatever it is you're thinking- whatever it is you are feeling, Sophie, is not the one to blame."
"She is," he protested.
"She isn't. We had to do what was important to us. No matter how Good we are, we must always put ourselves first."
"That's a lie. That's not what being Good is. That's being selfish, and those who are selfish are bound to be Evil." He took a moment to process the words. "We? You were involved."
"I-" but she couldn't finish when he abruptly moved away, his head shaking in disbelief.
"You were involved? You're telling me that you've been using me for your selfish desires?"
She held her breath. "That's not true. . ."
"It is," he croaked. "I know it when I see it. Why? Why would you do that?"
Y/N turned her head, unable to look at him. "Then, I guess we were using each other. You used me to get closer to Sophie, and I used you to get closer to home."
"I don't understand," he said shaking his head, blonde locks following him. "What do you mean?"
"Our promise. You remember it, don't you?"
He nodded.
"I'll tell you, but- under one condition."
He looked hesitant but nodded.
"In the end, after I'm done telling you, I want you to help me."
"What do you mean?" he asked with furrowed brows.
Y/N exhaled, opening her mouth to speak. About Gavaldon. About the years of kidnappings. About her fairytale.
He stared agape. "Your fairytale!?" he stuttered, cheeks dusted pink.
"Yeah. . ." she said with a raised brow
He veered around with his flushed face, hands caressing his lips as his ears matched the color of his face.
"Oh- nothing," he said in a whisper. He peaked at her before averting his gaze. "So you just need someone to kiss you? That should be easy."
She looked at her head. "Not me, Sophie."
