Connecting Flight

Astrid's eyes widen and her stance loosened. And Hiccup could have sworn he saw hurt in those sky blue eyes. Before anything else could be said, a loud cackle was heard. Astrid becomes alert and walks away from (Y/N). Hiccup rushes to her. "Uh, you're right! You're right. You see we have been making...outfits!" Hiccup says, but Astrid wasn't deterred. (Y/N) quickly rushes after them. "It's time everyone knew," Hiccup says as he takes Astrid's hand and blocks her from seeing the dragons. "Drag me back. Here we go." But Astrid got irritated and twists his arm making him fall on his back. "Ow! Why would you do that?!" Hiccup groans as he tries to stand.

"That's for the lies." Astrid kicks him down, "And this," She then drops the butt of her axe on his stomach, resulting in a painful grunt from him, "Is for everything else." (Y/N) watches and couldn't hold her frustrations back any longer. "ASTRID!" She shouts. But then a roar was heard. "Oh, man." Hiccup groans. Toothless and Twilight are seen by Astrid, "Get down!" She knocks Hiccup down as the two dragons rush to her. "Run! Run!" Astrid was about to strike but Hiccup jumps on her and disarms her. (Y/N) rushed to the two dragons to keep them from harming Astrid. "Hey. Hey. It's alright." She soothes them. Hiccup joins her in trying to calm them.

"It's okay. She's a friend." He tells them and this gets them to calm down. Though they are still hostile towards Astrid. "You just scared them." Hiccup tells the now freaked out girl, as he and (Y/N) try to keep them back. "I scared them?!" She replies and freezes a bit as they growl at her. "Who...Is them?" Hiccup is uncertain but (Y/N) sighs in defeat and looks at Astrid in the eyes. "Astrid, meet Toothless and Twilight." She introduces the two. "Toothless and Twilight, meet Astrid." They snarl at her with silted eyes.

Astrid shakes her head, glaring at them and then runs off. "Da-da-duh. We're dead." Hiccup says. Toothless snorts and walks away. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where do you think you're going?" He demands the dragon. (Y/N) looks to where Astrid had run off to and knew what had to be done. Twilight groans in annoyance, knowing what the she has in mind. And she's not going to like it.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Hiccup and I quickly got on to the dragons and we took to the sky to find Astrid. Twilight dives down to her and grabs her arm right as she jumps over a tree log. "Oh, great Odin's ghost! This is it." She screams as we flew. I look to Hiccup and he shrugs his shoulder as Toothless glares at Astrid and I sigh heavily. Twilight drops her on a branch of a tree and she lands on it with her weight making it bend.

Astrid was hanging on seeing as how we were very high up. "(Y/N)! Get. Me. Down From Here!" She demands. "You have to give us a chance to explain!" Hiccup says, trying to get her to understand as he and Toothless land on a nearby tree. "I Am Not Listening To ANYTHING You Have To Say!" She yells back. I reached by breaking point, "ENOUGH!" I shout. Everyone went quiet, I close my eyes and I take a deep breath to calm myself. I look down at Astrid, "If you won't listen, then we won't speak." I said quietly. "We'll show you." I hear Hiccup say.

Astrid looks down and knew she didn't have a choice. "Astrid." She looks up as I offer my hand to her. "Come on." With that she hoists herself up. I feel Twilight tense up so I pat her head to soothe her. I lend my hand to Astrid but she refuses. Twilight growls at her as she gets on and sits behind me. "Now get me down." She demands. "Okay. Twilight, down, girl. Gently." I tell Twilight. She opens her wings and so far so good. "See, nothing to be afraid of." I hear Hiccup reassure Astrid, but I saw Toothless share a look with Twilight.

Without warning, she shoots up into the air. Astrid was screaming her lungs out and I was gripping onto the saddle tightly. "Twilight?! This is not the time!" I yell at the stubborn dragon. "Toothless! What is wrong you two?! Bad dragons!" I hear Hiccup yell. They smooth their flying and I feel Astrid wrap her arms around me frantically as I hear her breathes rapidly. "Ha ha. They're...They're not usually like this." Hiccup laughs nervously trying to lighten the whole thing. But then the drama queen and king decides to dive down to the sea. "Oh no." I groan as Astrid screams again.

We dive into the water and burst out. Twilight is definitely not happy. "Twilight this is no time to mess around! We don't want to give a heart attack!" I yell agin trying to get her to stop. We flew up and she stars spinning. "Wow. You really are making your point." I say, not bothering to try and stop her. "Thank you for nothing, you useless reptiles." I hear Hiccup as Twilight falls down, spinning out of control.

"Okay! I'm sorry! I am sorry! Just get me off this thing!" I hear Astrid apologize as I feel her hug me tightly and hide her face in my shoulder. Twilight must have heard her and stops our fall. She spreads her wings and flies calmly. I look over at Hiccup and we sigh, relieved that the crazy is over. Twilight and Toothless fly up into the clouds and it is beautiful. The sunset added color like pink and orange to the sky and made the clouds look golden. I look on in awe as I feel Astrid let go and realize that she was too amazed at the scene.

I look at Hiccup and find him looking at me with a smile. He quickly looks away nervously and I softly laugh. He looks back and smiles again. The dragons then move in sync as they flew upright and dive into the clouds. It was night time and the sky light up with Aurora lights. Twilight and Toothless spin around each other as we see Berk down below. I feel Astrid hug me, but gently and look to find her with a smile of contempt. I smile fondly because we hadn't had a moment of peace like this in a long time. It feels like we are sisters once more.

"Alright. I have to admit, this is pretty cool. It's...amazing. They're amazing." Astrid's says as she lays a hand on Twilight's neck who snorts at her. Toothless flies closer to us and wants attention too. I hear her giggle a little and see her pet his head as Hiccup smiles in pride. "They really are." I say happily.
