Blaise and Pansy must have seen the distance that had been created, but made no move to comment on it, most likely because of Draco's forlorn face, and Theo's avoidance of everyone and everything.
He ate his breakfast slowly, taking small bites out of buttered toast—he stayed far away from whatever that Nutella thing was because he didn't think he could deal with another quarrel with one of his friends at the moment—and drearily sipped his coffee, allowing the caffeine to take effect through his body. His headache had lessened significantly after he had taken the potions that Madam Pomfrey had given him earlier that morning, and he felt the most alive than he had in days.
The only thing that was stopping him from having a normal breakfast was Green Eyes across the hall at the Gryffindor table, staring at Draco like he wanted to tell him something.
Oh, right. I forgot I was going to set up a time to talk to him so he can...understand me.
Draco had thought about the wording for the past two days and he still had yet to figure out what understanding him could possibly mean. Shaking his head, he finished the last bite of his food, chugged down the rest of his coffee, and muttered a quick goodbye to Pansy and Blaise who looked up at him and nodded.
He wasn't sure yet whether it was going to be Potter or Theo that followed him out of the Great Hall.
It didn't take too long for him to turn around and figure it out. Turns out, it was both.
Green Eyes was glaring at Theo as he walked down the hall towards Draco, and Theo again had that aura of indifference like he was in his own mind and couldn't be bothered to think about anything but the shoes on his feet and the ground beneath them.
Draco stopped in the hallway and shifted his body to glance at the two boys who were now attuned to him and his presence—albeit in two very different ways.
Who knew he was so popular that he was able to demand the attention of both with just a simple cock of his head?
"Well?" He eventually asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm sorry," Theo suddenly blurted out. Potter whipped his head sideways at him in confusion, his hair swinging with it and falling in front of his face, like he had expected Theo to be there for a totally different reason.
Draco sighed and rolled his eyes. "It's fine Theo, don't worry about it."
"Don't worry about what?" Potter burst out, effectively placing himself into the conversation.
"None of your business, Potter," Draco spat out, annoyed at him for some unknown reason.
"Ya Potter," Theo joined in with a nasty sneer in Green Eyes' direction.
Draco glared at him fiercely, now annoyed at Theo. The boy quickly lowered his head and murmured a "sorry" under his breath.
Draco acknowledged it, but was not quite satisfied with the answer. At least his nod would ease Theo's conscience a little bit.
He turned to Green Eyes with raised eyebrows—which he had to admit were the pinnacle point in trying to express something properly—and tilted his head towards a more secluded corridor so he could talk to him, since the one they were in right now had students wandering past them to get into the Great Hall.
Green Eyes nodded at him with a firm shake of his head that Draco had to struggle not to laugh at because the force of it had caused his glasses to slip downwards onto the lower part of his nose, making him look like a stereotypical old man.
Except for the eyes, of course. Those still burned bright with the fire of youth.
Potter swiftly pushed them up the bridge of his nose, blushing all the way—his ears turning a soft pink, and his cheeks blooming like a rose flower in June.
