"Yes. The spell books help charge and enhance magical energy. The more spell books you have around you, the more powerful and accurate the spell." He explained further. I hummed in reply.
"So, how do you do the spell?"
"Well, it's simple. I just, think of the place I want to go, create a little ball of fire at my fingertips..." He was doing what he was explaining in front of my eyes and soon made a small circle of flame. "Then you make a circle out of the fire, hold out your hand in front of it, then call out the word..." The circle of flames got bigger and bigger until it was about dad's size.
"Voyage."
With that, the inside of the circle began to glow, and with a burst of light an image started to form in the centre. A huge castle-like building with a huge wooden and iron gate and tall, dark, cobblestone walls that seemed to stretch for miles, vines and flowers growing off the sides. On the corners of the walls were tall rectangular buildings that looked like they had at least 200 floors at least, each floor with windows. In the centre area was a huge building with a few towers on the sides. The entire structure looked like it was built over a millennia ago, but it somehow had a modern style, despite how medieval it looked at first.
"Whoa..." I said in absolute awe. The entire structure was huge enough to fill the biggest estates in San Francisco.
"Pretty cool huh?" Dad said looking down at me with a smirk.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's hop in to the elemental realm." He said. Then without a second thought, he walked through the portal and walked slowly towards the huge structure. But as excited as I was to be in a place where magic actually existed, instead I stared at the portal feeling scared, anxious...
"Firelight?"
I was snapped out my thoughts when I heard my dad calling my name. I looked at him, and he looked back with concern and confusion written all over his face. By his expression, I could tell he already knew what I was so worried about. He tilted his head and walked back through the portal.
"You're scared, aren't you?" He asked. I looked away before answering.
"Yeah." I replied quietly.
"Listen Alex, I know how hard it can be to set foot into a new life. Literally." Dad said. He put a hand on my shoulder. "But trust me, you're going to love your time at Arceus. You have nothing to be scared about."
"But what about the other elementals? What if they all laugh because I dont know how to use my powers?" I said to him. He gave me a warm smile.
"Believe me, those who's powers manifest later than expected end up surpassing the rest in a short space of time. I should know, I was onw of them." He told me.
"Really?" I asked. He nodded in reply.
"I already told you last night, you are so much more powerful than you think. And by the end of your first year, you'll be so much more skilled and experienced in your magic than I could ever be." He said reassuringly. I flashed him a small smile. He then knelt down and looked up at me with a determined glint in his eyes.
"Now repeat after me. You are a flame shooting rockstar." He said sternly.
"I am a flame shooting rockstar." I repeated.
"Again. You are a flame shooting rockstar!" He said.
"I am a flame shooting rockstar!" I said more confidently.
"One more time Alex!" He said encouragingly.
"I am a flame shooting rockstar!" I said with full confidence.
"Damn right you are Firelight! Now let's go show the elemental realm what a real flame shooting rockstar looks like!"He said getting up to his feet.
We both turned to the portal, and the fear and anxiety I felt before suddenly vanished instead, I felt excited, intrigued, curious. I was ready for adventure.
"Are you ready now Alex?"
I let out a shaky breath and looked up to my dad with the same glint of determination he looked at me with. I smirked at him and felt my eyes glowing slightly and my chest fill up with the same heat I felt yesterday.
"You bet."
And with that, me and dad both walked through the portal, and I set foot into a completely new world, a world where my new life would start, my new life in the elemental realm.
My life as a fire elemental has just begun.
