"No" Erik bursts out as soon as the words left my mouth, his eyes widen slightly.

My irretated gaze meets his before his grip tightens around my wrist and he pulls me aside softly.

"He's going to hurt you again" Erik says, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I need to clear things up with Marco, I'll be alright" I tell him, trying to sound as convincing as Kloppo always does.

"Please don't do that to yourself, what if he's-"

"I need to try Erik" I whisper-shout at the boy in front of me, my voice sounding desperate.

He sighs heavily, shaking his head in disbelief.

"It's always the same" he spats, "he's got you wrapped around his little finger and you keep crawling back to him every freaking time"

I watch Erik walking over to his coach to sit down on the chair that once was mine, still shaking his head rapidly.

"Excuse me?!"

I stare at Erik furiously, feeling my heart ache because deep down I know he's completely right; Marco Reus somehow still has got a hold of me.

=7:32pm=

💀Marco's POV💀

The soft knock makes me look up from the white bed sheet I've been drawing circles on since Kloppo left the room.

"Entrez" I reply, mentally patting myself onto the shoulder for the perfect French.

"Hello again"

Her voice makes my heart jump and my pulse quicken to an ultimate speed as I try to play it cool.

"Hey"

I actually sound like a dying horse, thank you God for keeping an ear on my prayers.

"Can I... take a seat?" Helen asks shyly, her eyes being directed to the floor.

I nod briefly as the words seem to be stuck in my throat and point to the wooden chair next to my bed.

Breathe in, breathe out.

You are going to be alright Reus.

"I'm sorry"

I stare at her in amazement as the words leave our mouths in exact the same second, meeting widened brown eyes with the gold sparkles.

Gold sparkles?! Seriously?!

"Why are you sorry?" I ask surprised, my voice raspy as I say so.

"I want to hear your apology first"

Her words are demanding but soft like feathers caressing my skin.

"I am a fool around you, I don't even know why. You may not believe me but I like you, a lot. I have never forgotten about you during the last months"

I take a deep breath and keep my eyes down on my hands that tangle themselves together in nervousness.

"I-I screamed at you earlier because I was a-afraid to listen what you had to say"

To have everything off of my chest is feeling like something heavy would have fallen off during my confession, like a weight that got lighter the more I told her.

"T-Thank you" Helen sounds completely catched off the guard but I don't dare to look at her.

The hurt in her eyes might kill me inside.

Suddenly, a cold, almost fragile hand touches my sweaty one lightly as Helen finally intertwines her slim fingers with mine, making her smooth skin caress mine.

Her eyes are all lit up and a small, careful smile plays on the corners of her lips.

"Why did you make a bet on me then Reus?"

I sigh, closing my eyes slowly as I try to remember the details of that one night two months ago.

"The bet between Erik and me actually was about who would be the first one to make out with you. The other would have had to back off and the winner would have get the chance to get to know you better"

"So it wasn't about sex?"

Helen looks relieved as I shake my head and return the smile of hers.

"It was never. It just kind of... happened" I explain sheepishly, "can you forgive me?"

"Of course I can" she says as her smile grows even wider.

A comfortable, short silence falls over us just as soft as dust on thick books on a shelf, giving me some time to calm myself down and simply look at her.

The way her lips part slightly without her noticing; the way how shy she turns her glance away whenever we would make eye contact and the way how small and slim her hands are in comparison to mine.

"So why are you here?" I ask as her brown eyes land on my greenish ones.

"My best friend hit her head pretty hardly"

Helen cracks a small smile as she shakes her head slowly.

"I know it sounds stupid but-"

"It does" I chuckle lightly and feel almost disappointed as her hand escapes mine again.

"But yeah, I met Erik by accident and we waited for Lauren and you to wake up, basically"

She looks uncomfortable as she lets Erik's name slip over her lips but I decide not to ask her about that subject yet.

"You probably know why I am here" I reply as a weak attempt to cheer her up and actually get her to smile lightly.

"Don't ever scare me like that again, will you?"

Our eyes meet as I am not able to hide the surprise written all over my face.

She was scared because of me?

"Don't be ever scared again because of me"

I feel myself leaning in before I can control my actions, bringing both of my hands up to her cheeks to cup them before placing a kiss onto her pursed lips. Her fingertips only touch the nape of my neck softly before she suddenly pulls away, shooting me an apologetic look.

"I can't do this"

Helen, the most precious girl who ever came into my life to turn it upwards, turns on her heels and heads out of the hospital room before I can even yell after her.
