'Think Parker. Where would a lizard be hiding?' he thought to himself. It's not like a lizard is gonna be walking out in the open like an everyday person. And then he got a flashback to what Strange said.
He said he found the lizard in the sewers. Of course! How could he be so stupid! The lizard is probably in the sewers!
Spider-Man then looked down to see where the nearest sewer cap was. As soon as he found it, he started to go towards it. But as he did, the cap started to move. And out came the giant green scaly beast himself.
"What the hell?!" a civilian yelled. More people saw the lizard as it roared at them and quickly started to retreat. The lizard was about to pounce, when Spider-Man shot a web at its back foot and yanked it to the wall, where he webbed it up.
"Well hello Dr. Connors." Spider-Man said.
"Spider-Man!" the lizard said with a snarl. It looked exactly the same as the other lizard, and sounded just as menacing.
"Alright Doc. You just hold tight." Spider-Man said, reaching for his bag to pull out the cure. "And we'll fix you in no time at ALL!" he yelled just as the lizard broke free of the webbing and slung his tail at the webbed hero.
Spider-Man, thanks to his spider sense, dodged the attack. The lizard then pounced on him, causing the cure to slip from his grasp. He couldn't tell where the cure landed, for the lizard was on top of him trying to take a bite of him. Although he could make out the distance sound of something getting crushed.
"Whew! Bad lizard breath! You need to get yourself some mints." Spider-Man said, kicking the lizard off of him, and then kicking him to the wall. He then took the opportunity to look for the cure.
The cure was in the street, and was completely destroyed. Apparently that crushing noise was the sound of the cure getting ran over by a car. Perfect.
The lizard's snarl caught Spider-Man's attention in time to jump backwards away from the lizard's claws. Spider-Man took a swing at the lizard who merely blocked it and grabbed him. He then threw him upwards into the roof of a nearby building.
His spider senses tingled again as the lizard pounced in his direction, with his hands outstretched. The claws elongated and were pointed straight at him. Spider-Man jumped over the lizard and shot two web lines at him. Then he slammed the lizard onto the roof.
"Now I don't think it's time for Christmas Doc. Should probably wait to audition for the role of Santa Clause." Spider-Man quipped.
The lizard growled once more and charged at the web head. Spider-Man and lizard swapped punches and kicks with each other, but eventually the lizard got the upper hand and had Spider-Man's wrist in his grasp. Spider-Man could feel the pressure intensify in his wrists, and much to his horror, the web shooter on his right wrist was destroyed. The lizard then grabbed his left arm and did the same thing to his left web shooter.
He then spread Spider-Man's arms wide and leaned into to take a bite of his head. But Spider-Man raised both of his feet and kicked the lizard right in the chest to keep him away. But the lizard persisted and inched closer and closer to his face, all while still keeping a hold of his wrists. Fatigue stared to take over for Spider-Man, as the lizard was slowly overpowering him. He couldn't hold the lizard back much longer.
But just as the lizard was a millimeter away from his face, red energy started to surround the lizard. And then the lizard was shoved back rather violently away from Spider-Man. He looked around. Scarlet Witch was hovering right beside him with her hand outstretched to the right, and she was laser focused on the lizard.
The lizard's head snapped back at them and he released a nasty snarl. He then bolted over the edge of the roof.
"Hey! Get back here!" Spider-Man said jumping after him and tried to shoot a web. But he had forgotten that his web shooters were ruined. "Oh no, no!" he shouted as he started to fall.
Scarlet Witch noticed his situation and quickly stuck her hand out. Instantly, Spider-Man stopped falling and was softly placed onto the nearest roof.
"Thanks!" Spider-Man called out before jumping to the wall to see where the lizard ran off to. But he was long gone. "And he's gone." he muttered.
"You alright?" Scarlet Witch asked, coming over and placing a hand on Spider-Man's back. His cheeks flushed at her touch.
'Good thing I'm wearing a mask.' he thought to himself.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Spider-Man said. "Thanks for coming, even though I told you not to."
Scarlet Witch just sent him a friendly smile. "I know you were trying to look out for me. But I have power too. And with great power comes great responsibility."
Spider-Man grinned under his mask at her words.......well technically his words, but still. "Wise words. Where did you hear that from?" he asked, causing the Scarlet Witch to grin. "You can't tell, but I'm smiling under the mask." he said.
Scarlet Witch chuckled a bit. "So the cure didn't work?" she asked.
"Didn't get the chance to use it on him." Spider-Man said. "He knocked it out of my grasp and someone ran it over in the street."
"Joy." Scarlet Witch said in a flat tone. "Well I guess we gotta go and make another cure."
"Yeah. But at least I got this." Spider-Man said, pulling out a picture of the lizard. He took it when he was still looking at it from above, just before he swung in to fight him.
"Why do you have a pic-" Scarlet Witch asked, before she started to think. "Your job?" she asked.
"Yep." Spider-Man said. "Needed a pic for the front cover. Hopefully this will do."
"I may not be a big newspaper expert. But that looks good." Scarlet Witch said, looking at the image.
"Ah, thanks." Spider-Man said.
"So, back to the lab then?" Scarlet Witch asked.
"Yeah. Gotta make another cure." Spider-Man said. Scarlet Witch then teleported them to the same lab from before, and Spider-Man pulled off his mask once Scarlet Witch used her powers to close all the blinds. But before he got to work, a sudden urge came up inside of him. "Hey Wanda?"
"Yes Peter?" Scarlet Witch said, turning around to look at him.
"I wanted.....to........" he suddenly felt the urge to reveal his feelings for her dissipate.
"You wanted to what?" Scarlet Witch asked, cocking her head to the side. Peter just swallowed and grinned at her.
"Just wanted to thank you again for your help tonight." Peter said.
Scarlet Witch looked at him skeptically for a moment. Clearly there was something else he wanted to tell her. She did consider reading his mind, but then thought it over. 'He can tell me when he's ready.....Whatever it is.' she thought.
"Okay. Well you're welcome." Scarlet Witch said with a small smile of her own.
Peter then nodded and went back to working on the cure. When he was sure she couldn't see his face, he grimaced in frustration. He chickened out at the last second to tell her about his feelings for her.
'Someday I'll tell her.' he thought to himself as he sent a quick glance over at the Scarlet Witch, who was currently sitting in a chair on her phone. 'Someday' he repeated.
