POV: Nero
"Nero... how long are you going to sulk for?"
Aiden and I were situated in front of the TV, battling against each other in Tekken. So far, it had been me who had been completely obliterating him.
Which wasn't all the surprising.
"Sulking?" I replied, "I was never sulking and I never sulked to begin with." While the words themselves were quite strong, the way it was said was listless and numb.
That's probably why Aiden looked at me with an eyebrow raised, an expression saying that he didn't believe me one bit.
It had been about a month or so since that night and needless to say, I wasn't over it. It was like a break up except without the legit breaking up part.
That night, after Leo had left me alone for good, I dropped to the floor sobbing. My first instinct was to call Aiden and which was what ended up happening. After hearing the first sob after picking up the call, Aiden immediately dropped everything and crashed into the office.
Well, he attempted to crash into the office through the windows before his rationality told him that the aftermath of doing so would involve Nero, a baseball bat and his head.
So he crashed into the office by swiftly sneaking by. As soon as he saw my anguished state, he took me into a tight hug where I promptly sobbed harder.
To make it even worse, Aiden himself wasn't doing too savvy with his gramps still missing and the weird fallout he had with Erwin.
So he broke down too.
That night just consisted of two lonely men crying into each other's arms.
Once we had gotten home, I had filled him in on what had occurred and afterwards, I was called an idiot but Aiden also asked whether he should skin Leo in front of his employees.
I didn't want my best friend to go to jail just yet and shut down the idea. Needless to say, the man has been holding a grudge against the entire CEO population since then.
Both of us assumed that it would be extremely awkward when we went back to work, or at the very least, we may have gotten fired.
Surprisingly, none of that had occurred.
Neither of us had gotten fired nor were we put in a situation where we had to deal with the awkwardness. That was because coincidentally, both of us had not run into Leo or Erwin since that night. At all.
There hadn't been a single opportunity where Leo and I were in close proximity, let alone in a situation where we had to talk to each other.
I had passed by him from a distance at the receptionist area this one time. My heart clenched painfully and a wave of sadness washed over me. The man was so close yet so far and it was my fault. I asked for this for my sanity. But was it a mistake? It felt as if my sanity was still deteriorating.
He didn't look all that well. He had dark circles around his eyes and he looked as if he aged a couple of years.
It was a completely new and unexpected sight that had gotten me worried. I was going to cave and text whether he was alright but then I noticed Sydney scurrying after him and promptly shut the idea.
He already had someone and it wasn't me.
As I observed the two walking through, I couldn't help but feel that Leo was ignoring Sydney and trying to run away from her. She was trying to talk to him and he wasn't giving her the time of day, looking forward and treating her as if she was air.
