"Clementine," a familiar voice calls after me. I don't bother to turn around, but the figure catches up to me and runs to the front, stopping me.
"What do you want, Thomas," I ask blankly, my eyes on the ground.
"What-what was that," the boy asks.
I look up at him, a mixture of shock and confusion on his face. "He belongs to the Maze now," I tell him. "Listen, we're not all heartless, if that's what you're thinking. But hard times call for hard decisions, and everything that happened today was a result of that. Understand? Ben was stung by a Griever and there's no going back from that--once you're stung, you become violent. We just had to get rid of him before he could hurt anyone else."
Before the boy could ask another question, I walk off, continuing my way to my room.

I lay in bed, curled up in my blankets as I stare at my ceiling. Dinner was a bit ago but I didn't show up, my insides still felt super weak at the time. If I tried eating, I probably would've chucked it out all before I could even finish the second bite. I look out my window, observing as the stars continued to sparkle. I envy them. They continue to shine even in the darkest of times.
Suddenly, I hear the familiar light knock on my door. "Come in," I mumble, not bothering to get up. But it probably came out more like, "Coimm eimn" because my blanket was over my mouth.
The blonde walks inside, closing the door behind him. My gaze remained out my window, but I glance over at him, soon realizing he has a plate of food for me. He comes over, sitting down at the edge of my bed, right near my legs.
"Hi," I mutter. For a moment, I thought he didn't hear me, but he looks over at me and says it back.
"Come on, Clem," the boy tells me, "sit up. You gotta eat."
I groan before reluctantly sitting up. I look at him, his soft expression calming me down. "I don't want to eat right now."
"I know you don't," he states as he places the plate in my lap, "but you can't bloody starve yourself. You have to eat, Clementine. It took a lot of convincing on my part for Fry to finally give me some food to take to you, ya know."
I look down at the food in my lap, feeling my stomach turn as I do. I know I should eat, but I don't feel like it right now. A sigh escapes my lips as I slowly begin eating. As soon as I take the first bite, my mouth watered and my stomach wanted more. I dig into my food, sitting in a comfortable silence.
After I finish my food, Newt takes my plate and places it on my table before taking his seat back at the edge of my bed. He looks over at me, "I know it's hard, but try your best to stay strong, Clem. You can't beat yourself up when something bad happens, you gotta take care of yourself."
"I know," I tell him as I return my gaze back to the stars, sighing. "I wish I could be a star, Newt. I wish I could shine like they do."
I look over at the boy, who has the softest but brightest grin on his face. "What," I ask, a small laugh coming out with it--not a clue as to why he was looking at me in that way.
His eyes began to twinkle, as if a million stars were trapped in them and those chocolate pools were outer space itself. "You are a star, Clem," he says, a smile still on his face, "You're my star. Just when it seems like the darkness took over, you light up and shine a way."
I didn't notice at first, but a smile formed onto my lips as he said it all. I didn't know what to say, but I just kept smiling. It was like my heart had popped and I felt butterflies all over my stomach.
