WHAT JUST HAPPENED? That was the question most of them had after what just happened at the middle school. They all went to the Wheeler's to try and process what just happened and find out where ever Will was. Because it certainly wasn't anywhere on Earth.
Harper was next to El on the couch, who was resting after using all of her energy to contact Will. Mike was pacing around the room, trying to remember how Will describe the place where he was.
"What was Will saying again?" Harper questioned.
"Like home..." Mike trailed off. "Like... his house?"
"Or maybe Hawkins!" Lucas exclaimed.
"Upside Down," El spoke up.
Mike snapped his head in her direction and frowned as he said, "What?"
"Upside Down,"
Mike's eyes widened and he had a look as if he just solved the last piece of a puzzle as he approached the D&D that was on the table. "Upside Down." The others, besides El, were confused and walked over to the table. "When El showed us where Will was, she flipped the board over, remember?"
"Dark, empty," Mike tried explaining.
Harper was the only one to get what he was trying to say, but Lucas and Dustin just frowned in confusion. "Guys, come on. Think about it; Where was the first place El took us when we asked her where Will was hiding?" Harper asked the boys.
Dustin gasped. "His house!"
"Exactly,"
"Uh huh," Lucas frowned. "He wasn't there. So, what's your point?"
"My point is; What if he was there, but we couldn't see him? If he was at his house... but it was Upside Down." Harper replied.
She sat down next to where Mike was and flipped it back up for her explanation. "This is Hawkins," She placed her palm on the board and then turned it back Upside Down. "This is the Upside Down. A darker version of Hawkins. Cold, empty."
Dustin's eyes widened. "Like the Vale of Shadows."
Harper snapped her fingers at him, glad that he was also understanding and that he had found a beautiful example for her explanation.
Dustin grabbed a D&D guidebook and placed it on the table and then started flipping the pages before finally finding information on the Vale of Shadows. Dustin read a page that gave information on this world from the D&D game, making Mike gasp. "An alternate dimension."
