"It's so late, why are you here?" Saiki wondered as he grabbed the plastic bowl and unwrapped the foil.

"My mom and I wanted to make you something. I figured soup would be the best option!" Y/n smiled holding up the wrapped-up utensil from her front pockets. She unwrapped the plastic spoon and headed it to Saiki who quietly ate the soup.

"Thank you Y/n. But I'm gonna be honest im not all that sick. I just had a bad headache that's all!" Saiki said rolling his eyes at the exaggeration from his friends.

"Are you sure? The last time I saw you, you could barely stand up straight. Not to mention you were all sweaty and looked dead."  Y/n concluded a little irritated by the boy's stubbornness. Saiki seemed to have gone quiet as he furrowed his eyebrows in thought

"Im sorry. If I offended you." Y/n spoke worried at how quiet he was. Saiki shook his head

"No, it's not that. I was just thinking." Saiki mumbled still in deep thought

"Well, im glad you're doing well! Maybe the soup wasn't needed at all! You don't have to return the bowl!" Y/n spoke still seeing Saiki thinking to himself

"Y/n. You can stay a little longer. I don't mind your company." Saiki asked watching the girl slowly plop down on the boy's bed sheets. She took off her jacket feeling the heater turn on in the boy's room and placed the jacket on her lap.

"I like your room!" Y/n smiled looking around at the room and even getting a good whiff at the house's nice smell (a/n: do you also do this? I feel like im the only one. Everyone looks at me like im crazy when I explain the smell of their house)

"It's not all that special," Saiki said placing the food down on the table where he rested underneath both his blanket and Hairo's weighted blanket. He watched the girl observing his room and curiously glanced down at her hand which remained on the bed on each side of her body, helping keep her up. Hesitantly, he brought his hand over to the girl and slowly wrapped his fingers around her hand. Y/n felt herself jump at Saiki's hand on hers and turned over seeing the boy staring blankly at her hand. She instead just fell back on Saiki's bed feeling herself bounce slightly on the bed. His eyes seemed to finally tear away from her hand and over to the girl who appeared incredibly worn out

"I took home Kuboyasu's cat. I feel bad, the cat doesn't seem very comfortable with the new environment." Y/n spoke up to Saiki who nodded. She raised her free hand then rested the arm on her eyes.

"Do you still love Kuboyasu?" Saiki asked peering curiously at the girl who seemed surprised at the question and even sat up removing her arm

"What?! Kuboyasu? No, I never liked him like that." Y/n said feeling a bit embarrassed by the boy's questions.

"Your defensiveness speaks volumes.." Saiki thought to himself. He figured that as long Y/n had some sort of love for Kuboyasu that would mean Akechi would stand no chance of dating the girl.

"I better get going. Saiko said he was coming over for dinner. Apparently, he fought with his father who refused to feed him as punishment.." Y/n trailed off as she began to pity the boy in silence.

"I'll see you again soon!" Y/n smiled waving at Saiki who held his hand up to stop the girl. She curiously watched Saiki who seemed a little embarrassed by what he was about to ask

"Could I get a hug? I know it sounds weird. But, for some reason, I really need one." Saiki said quietly. He made sure to whisper from how ashamed he was for asking the question. The girl simply nodded and leaned forwards wrapping her arms around Saiki who seemed to flinch at the contact slightly. Eventually, Saiki slowly brought his hands securely around the girl scared to hurt her if he hugged her too harshly. He was a little surprised to admit it, but he never wanted to let go of the girl. Never.

"Do hugs always feel like this?" Saiki asked the girl who shook her head then smiled deepening the hug.

"Well, depends on who's hugging you. I think maybe you need more hugs in your life. You act like you've never had one before." Y/n joked to Saiki who just jumped again from her breath hitting his ear. She pulled away after a few more seconds to a tomato red Saiki who went to hide under his sheets. Y/n just laughed at this and placed her jacket on.

"I'll see you later, Saiki!" Y/n smiled leaving the room where the boy seemed to be in another long deep thought. Thinking about dangerous things someone commonly would not be thinking about. As far as he was concerned, they were normal feelings after being exposed to them for the first time.

Akechi was very confident the very next morning. He had placed the letter into the girl's locker once she left school the day before. Hoping that Saiki would show up today so he would be able to rub the victory in the boy's face in a very subtle way. He didn't want to seem like the bad guy, because in his mind, he wasn't. He was just entertaining himself in the world he had grown bored of. He perked up when seeing the familiar girl ahead of him and for some reason unknown to Akechi he quickly jumped back to his corner to avoid the girl. He peeked his head around to stare at the girl who seemed to be admiring the small garden provided at the school's entrance.
He brought his hand up to his chest and nervously gripped his shirt.

"What's wrong with me? Did my heart almost explode?! Do I need to go to the doctor? Why did I hide?" Akechi quickly thought about what sort of sudden disease he might be suffering from. He was quick to dismiss it and walked over to the girl feeling his heart practically beating out of his chest.

"Good morning, Y/n!" Akechi greeted the girl who stood up straight a little embarrassed that the boy caught her staring at the school's flowers.

"Good morning!" Y/n greeted as they began to walk

"Are you okay? Why are you gripping your shirt like that?" Y/n asked the boy who quickly let go of the fabric and wiped down the fabric

"I'm fine! I was just thinking about something! Let's just change our shoes..." Akechi dismissed Y/n who nodded as the two both opened their lockers. Y/n jumped when a letter flew out of the metal locker and onto the ground. The guardian spirit seemed to see the flying letter as a threat and was quick to shred it into pieces as it fell to the ground. Akechi's mouth gaped open as he watched the girl look around in confusion then see tiny pieces of paper shredded on the ground. What used to be a love letter was now a barely seen pile of paper.

"What was that?" Y/n asked the boy who seemed too caught up in his shock. He looked over at the quiet girl who he had initially thought to be a harmless ordinary teen like him. Akechi seemed to quickly compose himself as he smiled closing his locker.

"I'm not sure what it was. I need to get to class now. Meet me on the roof at lunch. We need to talk." Akechi asked the girl who just simply nodded

A/n: next chapter I might try to write 3k words. Or maybe the amount I used to write! (5k) that was a nice time... But that was always why my fanfic was so short. Maybe I should stick to this pace... Omg... I just realized I was ranting on this book. Might as well keep it in. And this too.
Anyway, I'll see you all next chapter!
