Chapter 13: Caller

Start from the beginning

"C'mon! Don't be such a bummer, Kunikida!" Ranpo giggled like a little child, "just-"

In an instant, the phone was slammed shut by a bandaged arm. Suffering from the same emotions as Kunikida, Dazai decided to perform a jackass move to stop his feelings from getting worse.

"Alright," Dazai exclaimed, pretending he didn't just hang up on the most egotistical person in the agency mid-sentence. You all knew he would get an earful from Fukuzawa later for doing that. "Kunikida and Atsushi, let's get going."

"Hang on!" Atsushi exclaimed, leaping out of his seat with a confused look on his face. "Why isn't (Y/N) coming?"

As he shifted out of the booth, Kunikida asked, "isn't it obvious?" He stood up next to the booth as Dazai scooted out across from him. Sasaki stayed where she was, not sure if she should stay in the cafe or go up to the medical room again. "They're wounded."

"But that doesn't mean I can't fight," you argued, also getting out of your seat, stuffing your phone and earphones into your pockets. "The bullet turned out to just make me go to sleep for a while. Hardly any damage was done, oddly but thankfully. But since Yosano healed me, I'll be alright."

"I agree with them," Atsushi spoke up, causing you to give him a thankful smile. He blushed a bit at this and smiled back. "Besides, if they ever need help we can protect them."

"I'm done with being the damsel in distress," you explained, looking up at Kunikida determinedly. "I'm going, whether you like it or not."

Kunikida looked back down at you, eyes slightly widening as he realized there was nothing he could say to stop you from coming. Eventually, he sighed, "alright. Let's get going."

Now you four sat in the car. Dazai and Kunikida, who was driving, sat in the front row while you and Atsushi were in the back seats. Atsushi was confused as heck though at how Ranpo deduced the location of the bomb. "Why does Ranpo think the bomb in the fishing tackle store?"

You looked over at Kunikida and asked, "where's the map?"

"Behind the driver's seat," he answered, keeping his eyes focused on the road.

"Thanks, Kunikida!" You exclaimed happily, causing the faintest blush to appear on the blond's face. Thankfully this went along unnoticed by everyone in the car. You fished out the map in the back seat's pocket. After you got it out, you turned back to Atsushi and instructed, "look at page ninety-seven."

You handed it to Atsushi, who took it from you after sending a grateful smile your way. He opened up the map and said a second later, "alright. I got it!"

"The terrorist's target is the petrochemical complex," you explained.

"I don't know why I didn't think of that," Kunikida commented. Although his eyes didn't stray once from the road ahead of him, he still slightly grimaced, a bit angry at himself for his slight stupidity.

"Yokohama is known for being one of Japan's major port towns," Dazai added in, "next to the shipping docks on the waterfront there are many large facilities that store oil and gas. If an explosion were to occur close enough to ignite the storage tanks the entire port will be engulfed in flames."

You could almost imagine the explosion in your head. It would destroy so much and kill so many. You four were Yokohama's only hope now.

"However," Dazai continued, "infiltrating a fuel storage facility would be hard. They're also protected by extremely tight security. But there could be one other way. A terrorist could put a bomb in a car and leave the vechile near one of the storage tanks when it's full."
