"So you're working with Ladie?" I nodded to myself. "Did you kill my sister too?"

"Jovan was a sad, sad coincidence," he shook his head, "Ladie. Zanita. Their parents. All of the people your family has crossed across generation and generation. This is deeper than you, Nyia Kelley, despite what you think. This rebellion is not against Nyia Kelley, it is against every Kelley dead and every Kelley alive," he seethed.

"I'll do anything...just please don't hurt my daughter. She doesn't even want this lifestyle. Let her-

"Did you give Mira mercy?" he cut me off.

"No," I shook my head, Mack's gun grazing my ankle as Gator spoke.

"I'm not a killer, Nyia," Gator said after awhile, shoving Mack back away from me with his stupid gun. "But tonight I will be."

He rose his weapon and I flinched, preparing myself for impact. "Please! Me and Cielo can leave! I don't want this life anymore! You guys can have the whole damn city for all I care! Just let me take my mother and Cielo."

"And not expect for you to plot against us?"

"I won't. I won't. I don't care," I whispered.

"I feel like a fair trade has come to mind," Gator smiled. I met his dark orbs, cold with fear for my child and my mother.

Gator gathered Mack, Pole, and Camel together, whispering in hushed tones.

"So what will it be?" I asked as Gator slowly approached me.

"You see your daughter. Once a month. We keep her. Just for insurance. Until her eighteenth birthday."

"What- What- But what would you need her for?"

"A Kelley in our possession. That's something just as valuable as money," Gator smiled. "We'll kill your pops, take over his hustles. We'll have an entire empire at our feet as well."

"I didn't know you wanted all of this, Gator. I didn't know you had it in you, if I'm being honest," I shook my head.

"Not for me. To give to my little son."

I gulped.

"And you want Cielo to..."

"Marry him, once both of age. We could take over this city and no one in it would respect us because they have it so engraved in their minds," he pointed at his head, "that only a Kelley could rule over this land. Well, my son and your daughter will breed a heir for the new cartel. No, not even a cartel. A-

"Hands in the air!"

Gator, Mack, Pole, and Camel whipped around as Cameron aimed a long automatic at them, her breathing heavily visible even from here.

"Cameron, no!" I hissed.

"I don't know what's going on, but get away from her."

"Cameron. Cameron...Belleza? Heir to a cartel as well. Your friend Zanita talks fondly of you," Gator gave her a wide smile, sitting his gun on the ground as his men kept their weapons trained on her. "Don't fight us...join us, won't you?"

"I don't trust you and I don't know you," she stated.

"Well, let's get to know each other then, shall we?" Gator asked, shrugging like he had no care in the world. "You live an average life but you're really as corrupt as your father. Do your little outsider buddies know you watch people sell cocaine? I know a bunch about you, but should I tell you about me?"

Cameron shot off five shots into Gator, his body shaking, and took his men down easily. I rolled over, finding myself along the side of my car. I was breathing roughly, my body quaking in fear as I watched Cameron quickly approach me.
