Chp 18 - The Card Castle Pt.1

Start from the beginning

Susie looked like she was in thought for a moment until a smile stretched across her face. "You are unbanned from free ham sandwich day," she..complimented? 'Well, what a strange compliment..' But it seemed to work as it the Rudinn Ranger beamed at her words. "The King never said THAT to me before," it spoke. Although after it was complimented, it still attacked. It threw its daggers on different teams, which messed up the team quite a bit, but no one was seriously hurt luckily. Sparing the enemy, who was now an ally, the Lightners had won the battle. "Well that was quite unexpected," Y/N let out. "Heh, see? Not so bad at this ACTing now, huh?" Susie grinned. "Well it was a great first try, Susie!" Ralsei patted her arm.

As they progressed in the Card Castle, they had entered a room, not knowing what it held inside. Walking in, the room was mostly empty, except the large pile of gold coins. Two Rudinns stood beside the entrance. "Hey! It's you guys! You're all those peaceful Lightners!" The Rudinn said with such amazement. "Yes! We are the Lighters," Ralsei said proudly. When it turned its gaze towards Susie, it widened its eyes in shock. "Wow, you even tamed the beast that was tormenting us!"

"Beast? What beast?" Susie asked with confusion. Although Susie might not know, Y/N knew what the Rudinn was talking about. "Ohhh! You even taught the beast to talk!? Here, have a Choco Diamond," The Rudinn said with such gratefulness, handing the chocolate with its tail. Kris thanked the Rudinn as they grabbed their offering.

Leaving the room after another conversation, the teens continued their search for the Fountain. As they walked through the hallway, another guard spotted them and rushed into battle. Once again, Kris ordered Susie to compliment the enemy, who just shrugged. "Please keep body slamming the soda machine," Susie, "complimented", the Rudinn Ranger with a smirk. "The King has never said THAT to me before," The Rudinn Ranger replied as it was complimented. After its attack, they spared the guard. A sign that was hung beside the start of steps was encrypted, "Stairs F2."

"Hey, there's the stairs leading up," Ralsei pointed out. "Ugh, I hate stairs," Susie groaned. Y/N had to agree to that, climbing a flight, nevertheless flights of stairs was tiring, "Well, I guess it is time we were given some exercise," Y/N sighed reluctantly.

After their climb, they had arrived to the second floor. It was not better than the first floor. Defense mechanisms spun infinitely. Kris led the group to one of 3 directions. Sadly, it was unaccessible because of the sharp, shiny spikes that blocked their way. Trying again, Kris walked the opposite direction which led to a small area. There was a chest on one side, which gave a ClubsSandwich. 'Well I know this will be handy,' Y/N thought as Kris stored it in their pocket. There was a room across, which was a bathroom. It was occupied at the moment so it wasn't a bother trying to get in. Entering the next area, which was the last room that was available. It was empty and small. Y/N frowned as they found nothing useful in here. Walking into the room more, an activation was sounded. Looking back, spikes blocked their, trapping the Lightners in. "We're trapped," Ralsei said worriedly. "Pssh, it's just measly spikes. We can just walk over 'em," Susie smiled. "And get impaled? I'll pass," Y/N disagreed. Susie grunted in defeat. "You're no fun," she muttered. "Well I don't want to die," Y/N told her. "She has a point, Susie," Ralsei said calmly. At that Susie just frowned slightly.

"So the worms decided to crawl out and play.."

A voice that came from the darkness spoke. "Who's there!?" Ralsei called out towards the mysterious voice. "Geh ha ha ha! Thoust FOOLS!" The voice laughed. A blinding ray of light impaled the darkness as a shape appeared within the luminescence. Y/N covered her eyes with her gloved hand, blocking most of the light. Once it died down, she lowered her hand slowly, revealing a person who had long white hair and a blue suit.

"I am Rouxls Kaard, thou're greatest adversary," The stranger who was named Rouxls introduced. Though Y/N couldn't pick up half of what he said because of the way he spoke. "Thou may have clawedest past all thouse otherest conundrums, but THOUSE were created by UTTER WEAKLINGS!" Rouxls said with such mockery. "Now, prepare thouself. For the STRONGEST puzzle of THOUST LIFE!" He smirked with confidence. 'Strongest?'  Y/N gulped. "TOIL, worms!"

A puzzle appeared in front of the group. Y/N eyed it with curiosity until it struck her with amusement and disappointment. Dumbfounded, she just stared. "This? THIS is your STRONGEST puzzle?" Susie asked Rouxls. He just responded with an evil laugh. Y/N just facepalmed herself, dumbfounded. Kris went up to the puzzle and just pushed the simple box atop the button. Just one push and a click was made. Rouxls stared in bafflement.

"GOD..DAMN IT" Rouxls shouted as he exited without a trace. Susie just snorted with delight.

The spikes gone, Kris led the group out. Y/N noticed that from afar, the previous way was unblocked now. Kris noticed too as they headed there immediately, everyone dodging the defenses carefully. As predicted, reaching the other side, the spikes were lowered. Another flight of stairs led up to the next floor. Once they climbed up the stairs, two hallways split the path. But they were still infested with guards, except they were a different set of enemies. Although they patrolled the hallways endlessly, Y/N knew that they would have to face them into a battle. Before she knew it, they had encountered the guards and entered into battle. Head Hathy blocked the way quickly! Kris ordered Susie to flirt with the enemies. "Annnnnnnnd hell no," Susie immediately responded. "Aww, Susie, it's ok if you don't know how!" Ralsei reassured her. "What? Shut up, that's not the problem," She sweated. "Are you sure?" Ralsei pressed. "Alright, LOOK, wise guy! I'll show you! Watch this!" Susie growled. "AHEM," Susie coughed a breath. "So, uh, come here, often?" Susie "flirted." Head Hathy felt awkward and left. Y/N almost let out a snicker but stopped herself in time. "HEY, GET BACK HERE AND LET ME FLIRT WITH YOU," She yelled to the Head Hathy who was already gone. "Looks like you need some practice," Y/N told Susie with a knowing smile. "Shut up, like you can do any better," Susie growled. Y/N fought the urge to say something back, but arguing about something unimportant wouldn't help anyone. Head Hathy's mind is an enigma. After the enemies' attacks, Kris ordered Susie to flirt again with an expectant look. "Hell nah, let's see.." Susie pondered for a moment after finishing with her disobeying. "Ralsei do it." "I suppose it can't be help," Ralsei didn't protest. "Hathy, your beauty is just transcendent. Your hair is like a waterfall of-" Ralsei started off beautifully until stopping. "Wait, um, do you have hair, or..?" Ralsei questioned. Head Hathy felt awkward and left. "Oh, oh dear! Wait!" Ralsei called out in defeat. "Not so easy, huh!" Susie countered with a smirk. "Well the start was good, Ralsei, but you need to work on that other half," Y/N reassured him.

Smells like a lonely kiss. Once the remaining Head Hathy's attack was over, Kris ordered Susie to flirt with the enemy a third time. "Oh my god, Kris!!! I can't! Do it yourself! Or better yet Y/N!" Susie argued back with annoyance. "Wha- I mean, if I have to, I won't mind doing so," Y/N responded. Though she didn't exactly appreciate the idea. But, everyone has to put in their fair share. "There! See? Let her flirt with the enemy!" Susie sighed with relief. Y/N saw a glimpse of Kris slightly frowning at that but their face quickly turned back to their usual monotone expression. 'Do they perhaps..not want me to flirt with the enemy?'  Y/N faintly widened her eyes. Now she understood. She sent a reassuring smile towards them, which they luckily noticed. Though it looked like a simple look, it sent a message. It looked like Kris understood what she was trying to telling them as she saw their hesitation.

Y/N was aware that Kris might get jealous if she flirted with the enemy, but she wanted them to knew it was only to spare the enemy. Kris reluctantly nodded back.

"Your smile is just so heart-warming to my soul," Y/N flirted with the enemy.

The Head Hathy blushed at the simple flirt. Luckily, her compliment had worked. After it's attack, which Y/N dodged swiftly, it was ready to be spared.

Succeeding at sparing the enemy, they proceed through one of the hallways. Luckily, it led to the next flight of stairs which led to the fourth floor. 'How many floors does this castle have? How big can it get?'  The thought made Y/N sigh a breath of exhaustion to herself. But Y/N knew they were halfway outta here.
