Chp 20 - A King's Fury

The King threw his weapon forward, connecting with battlefield once again. Susie's soul was called upon, and was sent to the battlefield. But something seemed off and different. The box that enclosed Susie's soul now was filled with deadly spikes filling the walls. Something led the box in random directions. Susie was damaged was but was able to succeed on surviving the attack. Kris aimed their sword to attack, while Susie defended, and Y/N and Ralsei passed some heals around. Y/N gave a Dark Candy to Susie while Ralsei munched on a Dark Burger. Susie gobbled on the Dark Candy in a matter of seconds and was back to full health. Kris swiped their sword towards the King, dealing an amount of damage. "Holy Fountains whose shadows are creating a new world..OUR world," The King continued. After the King's attack, which was rapidly difficult to dodge, but was successful. Y/N could see darkness pour from the fountain.

Kris ordered Y/N to cast Miracle Worker, which she undoubtedly obliged. The rest were ordered to attack. Kris's Soul shined its power on Y/N! Y/N could feel strength build up and cast Miracle Worker. Attack and speed now raised, she swung her dagger three times at top speed and incredible damage. "Hahaha..Do you see our NEW purpose?" The King laughed. Susie struck her attack and Ralsei threw his. Kris's soul went until battle and was in the familiar spiked box Y/N's soul used to be in. After the King's attack, Kris was slightly damaged. It looked like they weren't quite used to that attack as well. Everyone aimed to attack again. And once they all did, the King continued rambling. "Soon, this world shall be blanketed in darkness and DARKNERS shall RULE it!"

Ralsei's soul went into the battlefield, able to dodge the King's simple spade attack. Once Kris ordered Susie to use Red Buster, and the others to attack, the King spoke again. "Then, you may see what it is like to live in DESPAIR!"

Everyone's soul went to the battle again. The King threw his weapon again but once the spades came, everyone was able to dodge like it was instinct. Without a scratch they were unharmed.

Everyone defended this time, gaining a great amount of TP. "Now enough talk! Fall before the chain of justice!" The King howled with laughter. The King threw this spade weapon again, spikes filling the walls, but the battlefield moved in certain directions. And deadly spades filled the arena. Everyone was able to survive the attack, again without any damaged.

Kris encouraged the party, using their ability of Courage. The team's defense went up. "..ha, you're quite strong aren't you!?" the King remarked. After Ralsei was sent to battle and was able to survive the attack, Y/N could notice the change in the King's breathing. Although the Spade King's mouths gave a berserk smile, his breath sounded exhausted. Were they going to win? The battle has probably gone on for ages! Y/N stifled a breath, but she couldn't let her guard down. "If I keep fighting you like this, then.." The King muttered. Kris ordered Susie to use Red Buster again and for the others to attack too. Y/N slashed her dagger and sealed another substantial amount of damage.

Kris was sent onto battle inside the enclosed box. As it moved and bounced off the walls, Kris wasn't ready and got hurt averagely, due to the increased defense. But seeing Kris's pained expression made Y/N wince as she could imagine the pain they felt. "It seems that.." The King mumbled.

Kris held their sword upright, ready to attack. Susie growled with defiance as she also ready her axe to swing, Y/N was reaching for a Rouxls Rouxl to give to Kris so they can heal. Ralsei prepared his scarf to attack the King. They all attacked and Y/N was able to heal Kris back to health.  After the King's attack, which was easier to dodge now after getting the hang of it the King declared, "My Knight, I shall not fail you!" Everyone attack the King, his health getting lower and lower. The attack was ineffective to the Heroes.

The King's smile faltered now letting out exhausted breaths. Everyone's eyes stared at the King. 'Did...Did we beat him?' Y/N thought desperately, her arms tired and her eyes weary. Y/N checked on the others and they seemed exhausted too. "Enough..is enough," The King regained his breath, his voice not as loud as before. "I see..I see that I can't defeat you," The King admitted with defeat. Susie grinned a victorious smile. "I have grown exhausted from our long battle," The King hitched a puff. The King crouched down to his knees, his large arms hanging down to his sides. Suddenly, his black cape flew up and flapped up into the dark abyss that is the sky. "Lightners, I.. Perhaps I..I have been too cruel," The King spoke. Y/N narrowed her eyes to towards the King. "The truth is, I was not always like this. There was once a time where Darkners and Lightners lived in harmony." The King told the Heroes. "A time where Darkners could fulfill their purpose in peace. It would be a lie to say that I, too do not yearn for those days," The King said, his gaze thoughtful.
