Chapter 34: Tag

You didn't want to kill her, but if it came down to Atsushi, Junichiro, and you surviving, you'd have no choice. You just didn't want to reveal your really dark side to the agency yet... but if that was the only way to protect them...

"Dammit!" Junichiro suddenly yelled and banged his fist against the door harder, causing Lucy and you to look over at him with curiosity. "Kenji! Naomi!"

"It won't open without a key, unlike that door," Lucy explained, gesturing towards the white and gold door at the other end of the hot pink room.

Atsushi, who had stayed silent and still this entire time, gasped and ran to the door Lucy gestured at. The shock on his face only grew. "Everyone outside..." He began, turning back to you with a look of shock. "It's as if time has stopped."

Welp, we're on our own then.

"My name is Lucy," the girl next to you introduced herself, ignoring Atsushi's comment. "I created this world with my ability. But don't worry, you can leave wherever you want through that white door. But unfortunately, your companions will be trapped here."

Junichiro grimaced behind you before turning around and growling, "what is it that you want?"

Lucy answered, "that's easy! I just want you to play in this room with my friend. Say hello, Anne!"

Suddenly, a large wind blew behind you, brushing through your hair and sending chills up your spine. Junichiro gasped, while Atsushi jumped away from the door to face you and yell, "(Y/N)! Look out!"

Turning around anxiously, you came face-to-face with a large, creepy doll that didn't even look human. It was clearly made by Lucy's ability, but it was scary enough to make you stupidly drop your dagger. It clattered to the floor, long forgotten. You muttered, "oh shit..."

Large dark orange hands surrounded you and Lucy, only intimidating you more. Sure, you had gone up against hundreds of dangerous people in your time, but large, creepy, inhumane dolls? This was a first...

"Anne loves to play," Lucy explained as Anne threateningly looked over everyone, casting her shadow onto you and obscuring you in darkness. "She's a bit needy but she's just so cute!"

You couldn't help but give Lucy a troubled look. It was a complete mystery to you how any living being could consider that thing in some way cute.

The moment the doll's eyes shined a bright blue though, even the bravest of people were running away. Screams followed them as they all ran outside, leaving Atsushi, Junichiro (who had dashed towards the center of the room in the midst of the commotion), Lucy, Anne, some ugly-looking doctor, and you alone.

"I forgot to mention!" She suddenly shouted, leaning forward and placing her hands around her mouth to provide emphasis. "About the door; if you leave, you forget everything that's happened here! Do you understand?"

Despite her warning, people still left swiftly, their screams fading out into the distance. "Aw man," Lucy whined when the door closed behind them and they had officially left. "There's only four of you left..." She then proceeded to turn to you and sigh, "I guess you can go to your little friends now too. What fun is there in an unfair game of tag?"

Tag? You had so many questions, but decided to leave them unanswered as you were released from her grip. Despite being given your freedom, you stayed still and formed a quick plan in your head.
