He noticed Levi's hands shake as they lay propped against the door, as his bottom lip was sucked into his teeth, and the slight tremor in his legs. It made Zeke feel better to know he wasn't the only one feeling so awful about the entire situation, but the grief and anger he had been denying overflowed until all he felt was...well, like absolute shit.

"What do you want, Levi? And what're you dressed for, a funeral?" Zeke felt all his put off anger bubbling up inside him, boiling. Just the fact his friend, no- his BEST friend had yet to look him in the eye made his stomach tumble.

He wanted to talk to Levi but, at the same time, he couldn't wait for this conversation to be over.

And it had just started.

Zeke crossed his arms over his chest, feeling how slick they were against his nimble fingers. It slightly brought Zeke out of his angry haze and back to the present problem.

"I want to talk to you." Levi finally mustered, his eyes still downcast before he peeled his hands away from the door and walked to Zeke's side of the room, taking a seat atop his white comforter. His bangs fell into his eyes as he sank into the bed, once again covering his face from Zeke's sight.

"Well, then talk." His reply came over exaggeratedly sarcastic, which Levi was quick to catch up on.

Zeke watched as Levi's chest rose and fell before he finally- finally, looked up at him, his bags heavy beneath his eyes and typical grey eyes a dull black.

"Zeke-" His tone was stern but also uneasy, as he didn't exactly know how to go about Zeke's anger, or what exactly he could say to put his friend at ease. Or even if he could say anything to make him feel better.

"No, Levi. I know what you came here to say so...just say it." Zeke was mad, he was guilty, and he wanted this conversation to end as quickly as it started, he didn't feel bad for rushing an answer out of Levi.

"Fine, I'll make this quick..." It was Zeke's turn to gaze down at the floor, at the shitty carpet that adorned his dorm room, at the coffee stain he had accidently left during a late night study session. He could feel his heart hammer in his chest, his brain swarming with thoughts, and he suddenly couldn't sit still. He straightened his back and began to jump his leg against the floor, hoping to release some of his pent up eagerness.

"Zeke...I want to choose Erwin."

Fuck. Fuck.

He had prepared for this but the weight of reality crushing down on him made it hard for him to think of the ways he had planned to deal with...this...his rejection.

The breath Zeke had been holding fell out of his lips, his back slouching back into his rolly chair, and his head falling down to his chest, falling into his hands, shielding him from Levi's stare. Zeke had been consistently telling himself he didn't care who Levi chose, but now that he knew it wasn't him, he felt like everything was crashing down in front of his feet. And he had been so selfishly sure that Levi would choose him.

All the emotions were too much for him, he felt dizzy, despite being seated in his chair, and he felt as if he had just run a marathon. The room was quiet albeit the stupid Lofi Hip-Hop study music he had put on while starting his homework and suddenly, his fist was smashing down atop the keyboard, hoping - and successfully,  hitting the space bar and stopping the music.

He tore his glasses from his face, immediately digging his palms into his eyes, anything to stop the onslaught of tears he could feel piling up behind his eyelids.

"Zeke...?" Levi's voice broke through the silence, "I just want to know if....after this...we'll still be ok?"

He threw his glasses before he even had time to properly process the movement, the round frames 'whooshing' past Levi's head and directly into the wall beside him, hitting with a light thud before falling disappointingly to the lame, light brown carpet.

Levi looked down at the glasses that now adorned the floor, turning back to shoot a glare in Zeke's direction. Zeke, though, sat with his palms up, no longer hiding the tears that were pouring down his face.

"Why did you really come here, Levi? To ask for my permission or something?" His voice was weak, small. He was afraid if he talked any louder, his voice would crack. He sniffled.

"What?" Levi asked incredulously, "Are you fucking serious?" Levi wasn't at the point of yelling, yet. But he couldn't deny the fact he was starting to get irritated.

"Of course I'm fucking serious!" Zeke shouted, noting the slight crack in his voice, staring daggers into Levi's eyes. Levi didn't hesitate to shoot the look back, his gaze slightly softing as he took in Zekes state.
